Does anyone else have days where the tv seems too bright or staring at a phone screen almost seems to burn into your vision?

Extreme sensitivity to light, sound, and movement was one of my early symptoms. I pretty much hid in a dark room.

Did it get better? And if so what sorted it. 😀

That's me now with noise too and touch etc startles me.

All very difficult and upsetting with two little ones who make noise that should be like angels singing no matter how loud it is and who like to hit you to get your attention.

It did get better, after about a year of weekly injections. I still have tinnitus though, because I wasn't fully treated. It's important to get B12 at the pace you need, and to make sure you're consuming cofactors like folate, iron, potassium, etc.

Hi.I have the problem with noise,I cannot stand repetitive sounds and too much white light gives me a headache and hurts my eyes.I had serious head injuries many years ago and think that is part of the problem, also have ME and fibromyalgia.Do you think you might have a similar problem,ME gives weird symptoms.

They wouldn't give me injections but I have gotten my b12 serum up from 153pg in October to 902pg now on sublingual hydroxycobalamin 500mcg per day.

I take a good multivitamin(centrum) too and recently found my vitamin d was 14.5 ng/ml so I'm working on that with 5000iu of d3 and 100mcg of k2 daily.

It's not a walk in the park though.

The fatigue and thick head is killing me and anxiety and vision changes aren't nice either. I can see fine but it feels funny if that makes sense.

I've had tinnitus for a long time and although they've gone now I had little electric like shocks running down my back at night over the last few years.

They gave me a spine MRI and a have a focal cord echo signal abnormality measuring 6mmx4mm. I have no idea what that means though or if it connected b12 or my symptoms.

I've not seen anyone about it yet.

Yes I understand what you mean about seeing fine but it feels funny. Some times I think a normal day out doors at a park is like a very bright oil painting and the colours are too bright in normal light other days it is fine. Very sensitive eyes to movement and light.

I am very photosensitive and have to block the lamp with a cushion at the end of the couch. Some days I have to fiddle with the light on the iPad too to get it just right. The tv flickering is annoying and I have trigeminal neuralgia too which adds to the burden.

Ditto all of the above, most days I really can't cope with noise, screens for more than a few minutes even smell is affected.... Can't use soap etc that has a perfume.

Tinnitus drives me crazy CRAZY it really does make me want to bang my head on the wall.

Smell gets me too. Particularly in places like the detergent isle in shops.

I have had lots of problems with light - standing in bright, hot sunlight makes me quite ill, even after 2 years of treatment. Before diagnosis I had even made block out curtains to prevent the light from the new moon and still I position the digital clock face away from my direct vision. Thought I was going crazy!

Steap, I wonder if you should be having intramuscular injections rather than sub-linguals which for me are not a patch on the real thing.

Did you have your B12 levels checked before you began using the sub-linguals? I would wait for an Administrator's comment but I would try to convince a Dr to give you a trial of B12 and then decide if your symptoms are improving. Please keep a really accurate journal so you can prove to the Dr that you know what you are talking about. Another good thing to consider is to take someone with you because the Dr will be less inclined to fob off someone who is not suffering with a B12 deficient brain. Good luck!

HI Steap bright light bothers me even in the winter, some days I wear sunglasses when its raining if the light is bothering me, I also have to hold the phone 6 inches away from my ear at times as sound bothers me as well, gets a little better just after my injection but comes back within a few days. Take care and all best wishes

A low cortisol symptom. Have you been checked for Addison's Disease? It's another autoimmune disease. Fatal if not dxed quickly.

Light sensitivity is one of the symptoms of low B12, so is tinnitus.

The winter sun used to make me totally blackout especially when driving. I didn't know what it was for years until I was tested and had low B12. After injections it made a big difference. Still happens sometimes but nowhere near as bad. It does get better takes a few months though.

It still happens with TV if it's too bright or light is off when watching.

Low B12 can give you depression like symptoms and anxiety. I also realised I couldn't take loud noise like you said.

Everything does change over time and you feel much better. I felt a big difference after about 8-9 injections (1 per week) also had to take folic acid daily.

Supplementing with B12, folic acid, iron, potassium and a multivitamin and a good diet should help you greatly.

I forgot to say a full blood test is the first thing you need to check for deficiencies.

Hi Steap

I'm like Allyson1, couldn't stand bright light/glare, noise or movement very early on but it did get better with ongoing treatment (injection every 8 weeks). Some of it still comes back in the run-up to the next injection. Also don't like have the telly on with the room light off at night, would wear sunglasses at night when driving if it was legal, can't stand the detergent aisle at the shops and, living in Australia, wear sunglasses no matter what time of the day all year round. As per the others, would strongly suggest you work on getting your doctor to trial the injections.
