Hi Poorlysic.

It's very difficult to know what this could be via words in a forum...unfortunately.

It could be a swollen gland due to infection ...have you been or feel unwell...sore throat...recent cold...raised temperature...dental problems...?

If it is a swollen gland, these can be very painful.

Most often the problem is the most obvious 'simple' one rather than something sinister (which I suspect is what you are worried about).

It would be a good idea to see your GP, who will be able to examine you properly and determine the cause.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hi,

It could be an infected salivary gland, as already suggested by Foggyme. So antibiotics would be required. Obviously you need to see your doctor. Hope the problem will be solved soon.

Poor you. Have had saliva gland problems myself, and although I did not find it painful, there was a strong feeling of pressure which was very uncomfortable. Foggyme's right -don't be afraid- things that come up quickly and painfully suggest a blockage of some kind. See a GP - ASAP. A lot of us seem to get gum infections that are difficult to clear up, so sooner you can start getting treatment the better. Best of luck and let us know what it was, okay?
