All I can suggest is trying to use the materials that fbirder supplied in an earlier post to try and convince your GP that they need to look at symptoms rather than just the test results as your husband's results are in the range where significant numbers of people can be symptomatic.
As per other posts - self treatment is always an option.
Thyroid testing is incomplete. Only the TSH and the FT4 was tested. There is also Central Hypothyroidism - when the TSH - FT4 - FT3 are low in range. You only have results for the first two. The T3 hormone is the MOST important thyroid hormone and is needed in every cell of the body. If that is also low you could consider the Pituitary issue of Central Hypothyroidism - rather than Primary Hypothyroidism when the TSH is raised and the FT4 and FT3 are low. Without the FT3 test it is difficult to understand the FULL story. The FT4 is very low in range - needs to be nearer the top.
Also the most COMMON form of Hypothyroidism is Hashimotos - and again the anti-bodies were not tested - Anti-TPO and Anti-Tg - so how would your GP know.
From my own experience - I was tested here in Crete in 2005. The TSH - FT4 - FT3 were all in range and I would be declared NORMAL in the UK. However the anti-bodies were VERY high and so a diagnosis of Hashimotos. I am merely illustrating how things are missed with poor testing and diagnoses. I also had a scan which showed lots of nodes - again another characteristic of Hashimotos.
B12 is low and needs treating. I have read that it needs to be around 1000 to prevent cognitive decline - Folate also looks on the low side - although the range was not given. B12 and Folate work together in the body.
I am not a medic - just a Hashimotos gal with a B12 issue
