Hi everyone! I ordered B12 ampules and received with them .5cc (31 gauge)Insulin syringes. It takes me 4 syringes to empty a ampule. My question is: is one ampule the dose and should I be using a different type of syringe to give myself 1 injection?

Yes one ampoule is usually the dose of 1 mg . The amount of B 12 is always printed on the ampoule . I only know of two kinds of B12 (Hydroxocobalamin) ampoule that both contain 1 mg of B12 , but in either 1 ml or 2 ml of saline . I think you have the latter But all the information is contained on the ampoule and the box they came in .So it looks as though you will need to inject 4 times to get the dose of 1 mg . using the .5 ml syringe. You would be best off in future ,once you have used your present supply, if you order the 1ml ampoules containing 1 mg of Hydroxocobalamin and get a 1 ml syringe . So you can get the dose in one injection. Hope this helps .
sounds like you have 2ml ampoules = 2cc = 4x0.5cc
Some people do deliberately use smaller needles than ampoule size as they want to take smaller doses more frequently.
I so wish I could still get hold of 5mg/ml methylcobalamin in 30ml bottles but can't find them at present. Can anyone else?

I self inj after giving up on ever getting a diagnosis from GP. I had quite severe neuro symptoms. I loaded up on methyl that I bought from vitb12.org. When the 10 amps were finished I continued with hydroxy. Burning and pins needles in feet have come back. Re ordered from vitb12 but they are having trouble sourcing it too. I finally ordered 20ml from Oxford bioscience. Ordered two with postage £64. Also need to source saline to mix. Hope this helps. Taking sub lingual methyl until inj arrives.
