Evening all. So today I had number 4 of my loading jabs. I've had horrific palpitations all day since. I had the jab at 8.30am. Is this normal? My previous 3 were fine. Feeling awful :(

Are you supplementing with folic acid?

Yes I'm on 5mg daily

I found that any more then 3mg caused me to have thumping in my ears every time I turned my head. This may have been just my symptom.

If you want to experiment start a logbook of all your symptoms and try to assess a severity score. Your own scale (1-5) is fine.

Record your medication and treat the B12 jab as day zero for each cycle. If the symptom is from the jab, it typically returns the same time each cycle.

Other causes usually result in a symptom between 3 and 48 hours after taking either food or medication. This delay is due to the gut.

Stay with a treatment for at least a week or two. Before changing your treatment.

Monitor your symptoms daily or as they occur and try to correlate them to a cause in your logbook. If you suspect a particular food, remove it for two weeks to let your body completely detoxify before reintroducing it into your diet. Then monitor for the symptoms again.

Some symptoms follow each other in sequence as the food moves down the gut.

The symptoms from the injection can be counter intuitive in that they appear to be similar to symptoms caused by other things. Pain is one that shows up that tells you the nerve is getting repaired and the signal is stronger.

I can't tell you which symptom you will have because it is your body that is reacting and all my symptoms will be different.

Hi Dianebee hopefully you palpitations have calmed down by now. It may well be your body is "waking up" to the B12 but I'm not medically qualified to comment.

Hope you feel better soon.

Just a thought....when I first started loading dose I had a real problem with having them early in the day! Made symptoms worse for some reason but switched to late afternoon and it was loads better though never understood why. Might be worth a try?

Hi, was diagnosed with PA about 3 weeks ago after a year with awful symptoms. Just finished loading dose, I had palpitations after 2nd injection but am ok now. Some symptoms have dramatically improved but not 100%. After joining this site it will be interesting to see how I feel in the next 3 months until the 3 monthly jab. I also worry about my children now but feel the doctors will think I'm being dramatic if I ask if my children will need testing for this. My mother died from bowel cancer and my cousin has just been given the all clear from it, I wonder whether they had/have PA too, makes you wonder. Hope you feel better soon, I have read that palpitations can happen with B12 injection.

at the moment I feel no real improvement, I do still have one inj to go, I feel it may be while before I feel me again. I do hope you feel better soon also. 3 months seems like a long wait doesn't it!! Hope we can get through it without going back to stage one :)
