B12 and Folic Acid

My GP has prescribed folic acid because i have borderline levels but I already have B12 Injections

is this right?

Yes, B12 and folic acid work in tandem. So your doc is totally correct to say you should be having both.

B12 needs good levels of folate to work properly. You should aim to get your levels to within the top third of the range. It takes 3 months for blood cells to be completely renewed so you need 3 or preferably 4 months of 5 mg per day folic acid then maybe a lower level of supplement to keep it topped up.

Yes.  I'd switch the folic acid to methylfolate, if you can, and add 50mg/day of P-5-P (aka b6).

RetrenJohnies folic acid is prescribed to utilize B12 Your GP should have informed you why he,d  ordered it for you.

Retren again I now take B 12 in a gummy form orally andFolate orally and have been coasting along with those.for some time now after many years of intramuscular B12.
