I am still waiting for the results of an if test but just wondered as the treatment is the same for both ,does it matter?

The symptoms of PA are the symptoms of the B12 deficiency that it causes.
There are other things that can cause absorption problems with B12 and hence will also lead to a B12 deficiency.
Whatever the cause of the B12 deficiency the treatment is the same.
Treatment is the same. The PA is a hereditary cause where the body develops either antibodies to IF or antibodies to the parietal cells in the stomach that produce IF.
Mal-absorption of B12 from other issues in the gut can cause the B12D.
For me it was either stomach surgery 20 years ago or a gluten intolerance that developed 8 years ago.
I'm on weekly cyano B12 injections.
Folic acid is also important because B12 needs folate to do it's job. Google Methionine loop for more info on this interaction.
