My result: 73 pmol/l

Got various symptoms that could be to do with anything including some grey hairs.

Hi,

I do not know, what kind of B12 test did you have, the active B12? If so it looks OK, but if you have symptoms then MMA may be help full to have tested. It all depends on what kind of tests you have had and if other issues have been excluded such as possible problem with thyroid, or other vitamin deficiencies etc. Do you know what your MCV was?

Perhaps read this (if you are in UK) it may help explain what tests there are and what other markers there are for B12 def etc, see:

bcshguidelines.com/document...

Kind regards,

Marre.

Hi, thanks for reply. Yes, it was Active b12.

I've had a few thyroid tests, they've always come back witihn range.

I've had hormones test, my DHEAs were high outside the range.

My testosterone was within the normal range but quite low for my age.

My cortisol was high and outside of the range.

Trying to get to the bottom of it all - is it just stress - or a deficency - or a physical problem?

Thanks

If your thyroid test results were in range - do you have the actual results ? I too have a thyroid condition - Hashimotos - and my results were also in range. I had High Anti-bodies. It depends where the results are in the range - TSH needs to be around 2. FT4 needs to be towards the top of the range and also the FT3. Were your Anti-bodies tested ? There is more to the thyroid than the TSH test :-)

Having a lick of white hair at the temples can also indicate thyroid accompanied by nutrient deficiencies - probably an old wives tale - but hey there is always a grain of truth :-)

I am fortunate to live in Crete - where testing is thorough and accompanied by a Thyroid scan. Even without a thyroid problem your raised Cortisol could be blocking the T3 receptors in the cells. Low T3 and low uptake can cause problems as it is the only active thyroid hormone and needed at good levels for a healthy metabolism.... Every cell in the body has a receptor for T3 and for VitD....so when both are low things can start to go wrong.

Am not a medical person - just someone who has been on a long journey to wellness. Happy to answer questions....

Hello,

I also had thyroid test with antibodies, they were all in range.

"In range" is as hopelessly inadequate with respect to thyroid tests as it is to serum B12.

Numbers and ranges. Numbers and ranges. Numbers and ranges. With them you stand chance; with only the words "in range" you don't.

Please get hold of them and post somewhere.
