Some assistance in reading bloods.

Hi.

I'm hoping somebody can assist me in explaining test results for my bloods; Eosinophil and Basophil.

Both seem elevated, which may indicate a virus, parasites, bacteria, or autoimmune (possibly pernicious anaemia, etc), but I'm not sure if I'm reading them correctly.

Eosinophil count (42L..) 0.26 10*9/L [0.02 - 0.5]

Basophil count (42L...) 0.07 10*9/L [0.0 - 0.1]

I have a whole load of other results, but these ones stick out.

Thank you Marre.

The Basophil is quite elevated then; normal level: 0.01, mine is at: 0.07.

I'm not good with numbers and dates (everyone knows this) but are we reading this wrong? (I'm asking not telling)

Your eso is 0.26 The range is 0.02 - 0.5.

If you read the 0.5 as 0.50 then you are mid range?

Same with the other one.

My eyes don't 'do' numbers anymore so let's hope someone like Engels pops along and reads it properly.

You're right, both are within range. I should have paid attention at school (or gone, for that matter!) ;)

I only take more care these days because I've got caught out before - but I still like someone to check my answers!

When I'm low on B12 I'm useless at numbers, I can not read time, it just does not sink in, table is laid for to many people, supper was ready to early and I was at train station waiting for ever to collect the kids in the old days. Now it's still is a marker for me that I'm not doing well if time makes no sense..Marre.

Last week I got to Saturday, only to find out it was Friday. The scary thing is that I don't know when I 'lost' a day - it must have been midweek.

This week, believe it or not, I did exactly the same thing again and with the same days. Yesterday I contacted 2 people and mentioned I didn't think they would be working on a Saturday morning...

I don't know when I lost the day again this week.

There must be one particular day of the week I don't like!

To do it two weeks on the trot is quite disconcerting!

I will also 'read' numbers wrong or on a long string of numbers I will get mixed up in the middle and reverse a few.

I think a lot of people who have b12 deficiency have a problem with time, dates and numbers but it rarely gets picked up on. Most doctors and neuros just shrug it off.

I lost 5 days recently. I was to have a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago on aMonday morning and had to be at the hospital at 8am. 24 hours before I could not eat or drink anything except this awful drink Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. I spent most of the day on the loo and felt as sick as a dog. Especially when I could smell the Sunday roast getting cooked and then been eaten.

Anyway I arrived at the hospital at 7.50 and went to reception only to be told my appointment was not until Friday. I just burst into tears but the girl on reception said she would see if she could get them to do me that day. I sat in the reception area for about 90 minutes with about 20 other patients waiting for the procedure when this old lady said it crazy they get us here for 8 and make us wait so long. I said mine is not until Friday that made them all laugh

Oh Bee, sure hope you at least had the procedure done that day, did not have to go back again having to have taken that empty bowel stuff again! Marre.
