Ease into the night

a quiet solitude.

A sinewy stretch of silence

disturbed only by

the beating

of my heart,

echoing,

echoing,

off the hallow walls.

Dark invading blackness,

turns a light on

in my mind.

Memories,

rummaging

through memories

that stir my soul

to speak,

pushing up through

the thickening storm

of emotions.

Finding solace,

in the dreams

of my childhood.

Of family and of friends

now long gone.

Life lived

with promises,

faith,

happiness

and finally,

pain.

The ending coming

way too soon.

Ease gently

into the night.
