Stiffness and spasmodic pain at night

At night I regularly suffer from stiffness and pain in my right leg, right hand and right arm. Very annoying! Magnesium does not help. Extra madopar sometimes. What could I do about this? Anyone recognize this?

it can be caused by too much madopar at night. Natural dopamine production peaks at midnight so with medication on top it can push you up too high.

From my own experience. Magnesium capsules do not seem to help for restless leg. However, magnesium oil sprayed on your legs does help. I spray it on, rub it in and use for a short time a massager like a two ball massager from homemedics. Put my legs on a heating pad set on the lowest setting. So far it has always worked.

Thanks for your reply. I've also tried magnesium oil but that didn't help me either. I don't think I have restless legs either. They feel painfully stiff and sometimes they seem to be on fire. Those aren't symptoms of restless legs, are they?

I have a similar problem, pain in my back, neck and hip that was interfering with sleep. I normally take 4 doses of Sinemet during the day. My daytime dose is 1.25 pills of 25/100. In addition to this, I started taking 1 Sinemet an hour before bedtime and a second Sinemet that I take when I wake up and have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. My nighttime dose is slightly less because of the phenomenon that LAJ12345 mentioned of an increase in natural dopamine production at night. This has really helped me.

My husband gets pain in his right leg at night. It's most annoying as it disturbs his sleep. He has early-stage PD and is not on any medication. He takes a lot of magnesium in various forms and we have tried a number of things to prevent the pain but so far have not hit on anything that seems to help. He does have varicose veins on the calf of the right leg and at first we thought it could be due to those but it does not seem to be the case.

I am stiff and achy everywhere, especially hips and lower back. I attribute to the muscle rigidity of Parkinson's which lengthens muscles on one side of my torso and shortens on the other. PT helps; I have some home exercises I do. I take magnesium/calcium at bedtime and use a CBD cream I mix with a magnesium cream. I know they sell this combo, but I'm particular about the texture. I rub this everywhere before bed and after a shower in the morning, including calves. I also take 1/2 C/L at bedtime and one in the middle of the night. All of this helps some, but not perfect. Maybe some will help you.
