Non-PD question to my friends in Wales.

I came across an U.S. obituary of my grandfather and it lists a few people in Wales that he was survived by. My prob is that the obit says the surviving relatives lived in Irwin, Wales. I know he came from South Wales (coal miner), but I can't find an Irwin anywhere in Wales. I don't know how the pronunciation of Hirwaun sounds, but I'm wondering if it perhaps sounds like Irwin and the obit writer just screwed it up.

"Wine", eh? Never would have guessed that, but it sure does help... thanks for responding. I've been to Wales once, but only had a short time there, most of which I spent in and around Brecon. Drove thru Hirwuan but didn't have time to explore (or, obviously) even take time to ask how to pronounce it. Hope to get back there for an extended visit sometime. Thanks again!
