My wife uses that steroid & has a puffer in her purse 24/7. Relatively common in all Pharmacies.

Who would have imagined?

To the extent Covid illness is due to immune system over response this makes sense.

When Trump developed COVID he was treated with dexamethasone, a very potent steroid, and responded within days. In the veterinary world we were taught to avoid steroids during an infection because of weakened immune system. But I found low doses of dexamethasone sped healing and recovery of most viral diseases.

Last sentence , first paragraph of that Lancet article seems to say the same to my eye.

The Oz study was on anybody that " were given simple steroid inhalers* when they presented at hospital with symptoms of the disease."...." the results showed the method was extremely effective at preventing severe COVID-19 symptoms."

Lancet :"However, ICS use reduces the frequency of exacerbations and might even reduce replication of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2),9

supporting the case for protection against COVID-19.
