We need more research into the following area before drawing the conclusions people are making:

parkinsonsnewstoday.com/201... (just one of many articles responding to this research)

A leaky blood-brain barrier is a suspected cause of PD, especially among athletes in contact sports. If blood leaks into the brain, one would expect excess iron from hemoglobin in the brain. Excess iron is not the cause of a leaking blood-brain barrier. A low iron diet could be detrimental to people with PD. For example, green leafy vegetables are high in iron because of the chlorophyll. Eating these vegetables with chlorophyll raw can help remove heavy metals which can cause PD. We need research into the source of the iron in the brains with PD before drawing conclusions.

Here's an article more descriptive of the research:

It appears that they detected the iron as an element through its magnetic properties without determining the chemical composition containing the iron. The chemical composition of the iron is a critical step to interpreting what the excessive iron means.

I will follow this with interest as my Ferritin level is high (Over 1000, whereas normal is <200)

The local experts , who have been a great help to me, do not think that this is relevant. But as good scientists will be sure to take into account any new evidence.
