With regards to this I noticed that some time ago people noticed that they felt better after long car journeys (not me I get sciatica!). I was wondering whether this has to do with the amount of infared you are getting sat in the car.

I don't doubt there's something to this, but I don't know how the neighbors (or my wife for that matter) would react if they saw that I had a lampshade wrapped in aluminum foil with a red light in it sitting on my head.

They might well think I had bigger fish to fry than PD.

Lol! That was one of those," just too much" visuals, Marc!

That's what I thought, but that's actually what Ian prescribes. I'd rather have PD then to be seen with red, glowing tinfoil on my head.

Should we ask Ian to make a video of himself demonstrating?

MBAnderson profile image

I imagine a bunch of college students in a dorm room, having pulled this prank, laughing their ass off at the prospect of a bunch of old men sitting around with red lighted, tinfoil hats on their head -- for months at a time.

Even if Ian's next video is 1 of himself doing an Irish jig -- I'm still not doing it.

I have to say that I had to have multiple retakes when describing Max Burr's device, because I kept laughing.

Ian, We are fans and followers. Thanks for all you do. I didn't think there were any limits to what I might do to find relief, but I believe Mr. Burr has found that line. Ha.

Hello Ian,

I came across light therapy about 4 months ago in my continuous search for treatments for my husband's alzheimer's of 4 yrs history. The research and principles on light therapy are sound and non-invasive compared to laser and radiation therapy. I can appreciate them from my background in radiation therapy. In the interest of time and safety, I bought the Vielight Neuro Gamma. I was encouraged by the reviews and trials.

The immediate benefits were improved appetite and reduced rem sleep disorders after 1 week's treatment. Then progress stalled. My gut feeling was the correct positioning of the device. The instructions only indicated one position @ the Default Mode Network.

After 4 months of uncertainty, I consulted Dr Marvin Berman from Quiertmind. He has been using light therapy with his own design and participating in current Vielight device trials. I am inspired by his knowledge and expertise to obtain a uniform treatment and a boost to the affected regions according to a 7day treatment schedule wth the Vielight. From my knowledge in planning radiation therapy, Marvin's approach is valuable for best outcomes.

I believe my prayers are being answered by this consult with Marvin. It has been a very tough ride to this point. Today is the 6th day of the new management plan, with steady progress noted. We will be going on a 19 day cruise from 17th Sep when I will be able to follow the management plan effectively. Currently we are having a short holiday in New York, having travelled from South Australia. My husband travelled well, despite 7 hrs' delay on top of 2 flights of 5 hrs and 12 hrs to New York via Tokyo from our KL stopover. Clearly, the Vielight helped as he had the treatment on the plane too.

For now, I hope my information helps to encourage this treatment which is safe and will help recover many functions. Time is of the essence! Our management includes Bredesen's protocol, exercises, supplements and neurofeedback.

Blessings and hope to all us!

My husband has been using the Vielight gamma for 14 weeks. There have been improvements and red light is supposed to repair the neurons as well. I have concerns on the correct positioning of the diodes and think that perhaps wearing a helmet with full diodes inside like those for hair growth wd be more effective. I am toying with the idea of custom making one

but am unsure of the required specifications. Any input ? Perhaps I should email Michael Hamblin who is an authority on red light therapy

Dr Marvin Berman of Quietmind will be able to advise you on the personalised positioning from the scans and diagnosis of which parts of the brain are affected.

Some noticeable improvements are less jerks at night, good appetite and food appreciation

stopped nosebleeds. The speed of recovery is slow due to inadequate exercise and my husband's motivation! I am striving to motivate him in all other activities as I am hopeful of recovery of at least more functions!

Hi. We have not consulted any doctors or done any scans. It is my understanding that for the scans to reflect any changes motor skills would have been affected. My husband has non motor symptoms like overactive bladder, loss of smell, some jerking at night when he sleeps. I started him on vitamin B1 and Vielight to hopefully repair the neurons.

Have you tried gamma audio waves?

I watched dr Berman’s talk where an MIT professor spoke of using gamma light therapy- gamma light flashing at 40 hz for an hour reduced amyloid beta by 50%. It has to be done daily otherwise it would regress. I discovered that gamma can be delivered through the eyes and ears and so I play gamma music at 40 hz at bedtime- to the annoyance of my husband- do you reckon this is effective too?

The flashing gamma light gave me a bad headache and I could not tolerate it. It may be different for other people as everyone is different

I bought the Gamma unit first and followed the instructions for 6 nightly applications with 1 night rest. Dr Marvin precribed Gamma for 6 mornings, alpha ( another unit @ lower frequency for 7 mornings). Another application is daily QEEG with a pocket

sized EEG unit. You can google QEEG for details.

Millbrook profile image
Millbrook in reply to Lwaj

I have both the alpha and the gamma as I purchased them together the neuro duo. So far I have only used the gamma as DR Lew Lim had told me that gamma was more effective for sleep. My husband uses it 6 days resting 1 day. What is your protocol? 6 days gamma then 6 days alpha then back to gamma?

Lwaj profile image
Lwaj in reply to Millbrook

Gamma for 6days in the morning around 9am. 2 mornings each @ personalised positions. 6 nights at the same DMN position instruction with the Alpha unit. My husband's left frontal lobe is more affected. Hence, these different positions aim at giving a higher 'dose' to the region. Dr Marvin's hypothesis or principle is aimed at greater stimulation for the day. It's interesting to note the different principle! I will be contacting Dr Berman soon and keep you updated.

Thank you very much. I will email Dr Berman as it is much better to have a personal programme than just have the standard application.

God bless

Hi just wondered how the vie light near infred therapy was going? Did u continue to notice improvements? I’m still debating buying one, but 750 is a hefty outlay x

It will help you to write to Dr Marvin Berman of Quietmind for the decision.

I consider the device as one of the treatments - a multi prong approach for effective management. Any improvements are a bonus to quality of lives for all of us. The speed of recovery depends on individuals and their commitment to the program of activities. The principles of this LED photomodulation are sound, in my opinion!

I fully agree. I have an experience to share as to how I was introduced to red light therapy.

My 14 year old cat had been diagnosed with chronic kidney problems in October 2017. He needed daily subQ to hydrate him and he needed to be fed blended renal food twice a day as he did not eat enough. He had lost alot of weight. By October 2018 he had regained his weight but had little energy, was sluggish. I started red light therapy for him using a panel with 630 nanometres, 660 nanometres and 880 nanometres as I read that red light was excellent for cats with kidney disease amongst other things. I place the book panels on his back where his kidneys are. The first week I did it for 10 mins 3x a week. The second week I gave him daily dose Monday to friday and that is his schedule now. At the end of the second week he started eating the kibbles. This is a cat that did not feed independently for 1 year. Now, he only gets fed breakfast to make sure he drinks enough. His sub Q has been reduced from daily to 3x a week. He is a totally healed cat after 5 months of red light therapy. I truly believe in it and it is because of him that my husband does the vielight.

We just saw a new neurologist who diagnosed my husband as a complex case. Hence, the slow response. He has prescribed an MRI and EEG for reassessment in a week's time. Unfortunately, this technology and the Bredesen's protocols slow to be embraced and opened to trials in Australia! The latter is important for timely implementation. The financial interests from these technologies are not profitable. Nevermind the affected patients and us the carers?!! Let's keep our hopes up as there have been successful cases. Your cat is one, albeit a different species.

All the very, very best for a brighter future!!

A month ago I made a red might therapy hat for my dad called a ‘Cossack hat’ with no tin foil - he uses it every day together with a foot shiatsu massage machine for his RLS - the effects are really difficult to pin down but we have noticed much better sleep, less RLS, better clarity of thought and clearer speech. Anyone else tried it for more than a month?
