The primary torsion dystonias are a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of movement disorders characterized by sustained or intermittent involuntary muscle contractions, causing abnormal segmental movements or incorrect postures or both. These symptoms have been associated with defects in mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. We have treated two female patients affected by sporadic, idiopathic, late-onset primary dystonia with high doses (100 mg twice a week) of intramuscular thiamine for 6-7 months.

May God bless him and keep him healthy to treat people in need of him and his knowledge!

Husband had the first B1 IM injection yesterday. His comment: "Feel normal again!"

I will write in more detail after his second injection and my observations.

Short of a miracle, if I may say!!!

in reply to Despe

That is great news, Despe!!! Both Dr. Costantini and Dr. Colangeli said the injections can show benefit within hours in most patients!

And when they don't, because I understand those are the most successful story's....

How long does it last on average to see benefits (especially for the stiffness (by me no balance problems , no swallowing problems, no tremor, just damned stiffness in the thoracic area and shoulder)) when you do injections one (twice) a week ??

in reply to JANVAN

Based on what people have reported two injections per week seems to be more the norm. It seems that while the injections seem to show benefit significantly faster than the oral route, each person may show benefit in different areas. Many people report relief of constipation, often within the first week. One of my friends found relief for his severe anxiety well within the first two weeks of starting on oral dosing. Others report improved balance and apparent leg strength gain early on while others report significant improvement in depression early on. It just seems to be different for each person.
