If anyone out there has the answer to my question I would be grateful. I have more than once started the protocol whereby one takes a supplement of Vit. B1 in the hope that it will have some effect on the facial freezing which is my main problem. However, I read somewhere that this can cause pain (where they do not make clear). In my case after having taken a whole bottle of low dose thiamine I now find that however small a dose I take to restart the test I have to stop because of the pain in my back. I would like to know which manufacturer to take and if it is perhaps the fillers in the capsules which cause the pain. Anyone any ideas? I don't usually have a problem with my pain control as I take Serrapeptase regularly which is an anti inflammatory and keeps me pain free most of the time. Thanks in advance.

A must read by Dr Derrick Lonsdale, experimenting TTFD (a derivative of thiamine) on himself.
The same may happen with the form of thiamine (HCl) recommended by Dr Costantini. Too much of it can cause low back pain, he said somewhere. Solution : abstinence for some weeks maybe.
« For some time I had been taking 100 mg of TTFD a day and one tablet of B complex. I raised the dose of TTFD to 200 mg a day without raising the dose of B complex to see if I could perceive any difference in what I experienced. After about a month with this dose, I was getting into bed one evening and was suddenly afflicted with the worst pain in my left leg that I had ever experienced. »
« Also, I can no longer state that there is no “toxicity” from taking large doses of TTFD. It does seem to imply that the remainder of the B complex should always be used with TTFD. »
I dont have PD etc, but looking for treatments for my Mum, and my own experimentation with moderately high dose Thiamine over the last few days has produced some quite odd symptoms (in line with above link, have bought some potassium to see if that helps).
Also as mentioned in other replies, seen discussion about taking a good quality (decent size dose) B complex with Thiamine, may be helpful (solgar looks good). Havent gotten around to researching myself yet, but I see no downside to taking soo...
Side note to above reply, TTFD is much higher potency compared to HCL. 200mg a day is a lot for someone who doesnt have a clinical need for it!
Thanks for getting back to me, I have been taking the Solgar B1 and they use magnesium as a filler. I wanted straightforward B1 but hey I ain't no expert. If your Mum needs potassium give her a banana. I am reliably informed they keep leg cramps away! I will keep on trying as the inability to smile really bothers me as I end up with a feeling of strain around the eyes!
Sorry, I just saw your question. Here is a link to the HDT/B1 FAQ page where you should review question and answer number 55 where Dr. Costantini answers your question.
Please excuse me for using you as a springboard! My navigational skills are not up to speed when it comes to my actually finding the right billet for my question. My PD is mainly in my head (not in my mind) and I feel a if I have a tight band around it. My eyes permanently need drops and I can't seem to find a health care professional who knows what to do for me. My GP is prepared to help and sent me to the maxilla facial people who injected my salivary glands with botox - I wish I could say it worked but I dare not go back for a follow up as I have become totally deaf in my right ear almost immediately afterwards. Worse is my eyes. They feel as if they are under strain all the time and the optician and the specialist opthalmologist both prescribed the same eye drops. There must be others out there with this problem. I am sure I saw a reply to this problem on Health Unlocked website but can't find it now.
So if anyone is up to speed or can think of the answer for this tedious problem please bring me up to speed.
I was advised by my eye doc too use eye drops twice daily in both dideyes..and if needed there his a gel form to use at night for more lubrication. In the US it is sold over the counter.
