A question for JohntPM.

Morning John, I'm not sure if you are a medical person or a statistician so ? ( I absolve you completely from any results that occurred either good or bad) So following on from my previous post about my reducing Rotigotine ...... I reduced the patches by about 10% in size , and in less than 48 hrs something happened. Leg cramps returned big time , even cramp returned to my right thigh. Now that is really painful and needs my wife to help with massage to alleviate the discomfort.

Previously when she was away I had cramp in my thigh and needed medical help but was unable to get out of bed to call for help. I think I must have passed out with the pain , because I awoke several hours later ,with all pain gone.

To return to this morning. I replaced the 90% sized Rotigotine ( it was about 20,hrs old) with a full size new patch and the rest of the night was spent in beautiful relaxed sleep.

The question is John was 48hrs enough to arrive at my conclusion :-- Rotigotine was added to medication as a measure of containing a known side effect of Madopar 25s. Anyway I am "sticking " with the full patch for now. Will possibly try an extended a trial on Madopar next week. I hope my Physio can remove the aches from my leg on Wednesday. Again I say John,. I was responsible for all decisions made to alter are amend my meds. Your thoughts on this would be very welcome . And everyone who has had leg cramps please add your experiences. Mike

Mike,

I'm sorry to hear of your experiences.

We now know two additional things:

- previously you have had leg cramps that "needed medical help";

- cutting your rotigotine by 10% led in under 48 hours to "Leg cramps returned big time".

Why after the first experience were you thinking of decreasing your dose? I would use your doctor's drug regimen and see him about this.

I get leg cramps (in the calf and in the shin) some mornings, these normally clear just after I take my first dose of levodopa (in my case Stalevo).

Thank you John. I read with interest the link you provided. Returned to full patch last and had an uninterrupted nights sleep ! Mike

I have found that leg cramps are related to lack of water intake. I only take a small amount of sinemet and mucuna - diagnosed 4 years.

Also, there is an acupressure point below your nose - above upper lip - squeeze the skin of the two little ridges together and hold - sometimes it helps
