How long since dx before you first began to experience "......"off" time, which are periods of immobility related to temporary unresponsiveness to medication. Parkinson's symptoms, such as muscle rigidity, often make movement difficult." (stumbling, falling, festination, et al)?

Before you started meds?

After starting meds?

After, about a year after. It's an all downhill since and speech is weird I can't stand or walk good my balance is so bad I fall over what is really bothering me is tonight and then on the ground and I couldn't move a muscle on my torso legs couldn't pull up either, I read all these posts if you have PD for 10 years and and then we'll hope oh I'm not even two years , I hope it's not some type of palsy or or that super thing or ALS

I was dx in 2011, started out on Azilect for about 5 months and didn't start taking carbidopa/levadopa until about three years in. I remain in Stage 1 and don't experience off times. I'm now taking 5 pills a day 25/100 carb/leva, 3 doses of Amantadine 100 mg/ and 3 doses of Mirapax. I'm doing pretty well. Right now I feel some progression and when this happens I get really scared. But so far I've come through these brief periods of slightly increased symptoms within a week or two. I'm planning on snapping out of this as well. I'm just so grateful to remain in Stage 1. Good luck.

How are determining what stage you are in Penelope? I keep wondering what stage I'm in myself. I'm surprised that you are taking as much meds as you do if you are in Stage 1.

Getting Diagnosed is not necessarily when the PD started. Most people that are diagnosed have had the disease long before diagnosis. I estimate I've had PD from 6 to 10 years now, however I just was diagnosed last year.

Before I was diagnosed I had 'Off Time' constantly. I was so miserable. I went to the doctor over and over again seeking some help but I could tell I had the label of a hypochondriac and although the doctor had done many tests for my symptoms he was not taking me seriously. Once I was finally diagnosed and started on Sinemet I felt relief. I am so very grateful! Still had some off time before it was time for next dosage. The last visit my dosage frequency was increased. Now the only time I have off time is when I first wake up before the Azilect and Sinemet kick in.
