Pancreatic Enzyme supply problem

The supply of Pancreatic Enzme Replacement Therapy (PERT) in the form of Nutrizym 22 has transformed my life such that I have cut my toilet visits from up to 15 per day to around 3. Consequently I can now wander further from home and am not unexpectedly ****ing my pants in public.

When Nutrizyme 22 became unobtainable the pharmacist was authorised to supply me with Creon 25000 and I breathed a sigh of relief.

I am now told that the (Well) Pharmacy wholesaler cannot supply either and that they are not allowed to order direct from the producers.

I am also told that the Nutrizym will not be available until October and the Creon not until 2026.

I am further advised that the shortage is not simply a production problem but is compounded by NHS pricing that means that supplies are being sent to the EU.

I do not know whether any of this is true but if anyone has reliable knowledge of the true supply situation - and even better, advice of how to overcome it I will be excited to hear.

Last I heard Nutrizym will be available in August 2024 but who knows! My consultant said the MHRA are licensing the enzymes used in America. They already have FDA approval so considered safe to use in UK.

Yes my partner is experiencing the same problem. I didn't know about the pricing with the NHS. This will cause untold misery

I am now told that the issue, that, while an issue of price may be involved or not, there is a pause while the MHRA consider whether to approve USA enzymes for use in the UK. That of course does not necessarily mean that the NHS will start prescribing US enzymes - but we have to hope....

Hi there, I too had a problem getting my script fulfilled this week, I had to travel around various chemists until I found one with supplies. This happened a few years back with 40,000s and I was moved to 25,000s. I hope it’s resolved quickly!

One problem I haven't got as I'm intolerant to pork. I soldier on taking 8 immoduim per day. Life eh!
