Turmeric
Hello Jackie 1947. Yes, turmeric help pancreas very much. I bealieve you allready know that it is high anti inflammatory. Turmeric is very strong antioxidant and it protect you against pancreatic cancer too. It acts against pain and from my expirience (i suffer from painful sciatica too) it is stronger than ibuprofen. You have to be aware that if you are prone to kidney stones or gallbladder stones or high blood pressure turmeric is not for you. It can iritate your stomach too, it is spice after all. But not too much, it is only spice i can tolerate. I am on Essiac tea, so i don't take turmeric all the time Because i don't want to mix them together. When i stop Essiac i use to take turmeric at night Because it is great sleep aid too. I take it in powder form mixed with little black pepper (you can find recipe on net) with my meal. Some people take it in capsules. Don't take turmeric more than 500 mg a day. Dear Jackie 1947, i know your problems with allergy on pork based enzymes. You mention immodium, so i bealieve you have dhiarhea... In my prevoius posts i ve mention moringa. Even it is natural laxative, i bealieve that half teaspoon of Moringa will not give you dhiarhea. Moringa is packed with almost all fat soluble vitamins, essential minerals, quercetin, moringin, etc.. It is natural strong anti pancreatic cancer fighter too. When you combine it with fat which dont require pancreatic enzymes like coconut oil ( it is source of vitamin E and there is no E in moringa) you make almost ideally solution for some one who can not take pork based enzymes like Creon, Because you take all essential vitamins and minerals your body need. So, moringa in the morning and turmeric at night. Of course, we all are different, so you have to experiment a litlle and see how you tolerate all of this. Dear Jackie, i am not dr., just a 13 years CP sufferer, survivor of this nasty illness, and all i said is from my own expirience. In hope that some of this will help you, i wish you health and all the best.
I have chronic pancreatitis which means I am in constant pain. I take Creon so do you think turmeric would help with the pain ? Or ginger ? Thank you
Dear Readingagatha. Official medicine say that turmeric 500 - 700 mg a day is highly beneficial in chronic pancreatitis . Of course, as i said, if you are prone to kidney stones, high blood pressure etc... you have to be careful. If you have sensitive stomach be careful too. I have sensitive stomach but i tolerate turmeric well. Of course turmeric act against pain. I don't tolerate artificial pain killers like ibuprofen, acetaminophen well. I have all sorts of side effects on them. Dr. s prescribed me tramadol and codeine for pain, but in almost 13 years suffering of CP i ve never take even single tablete. I have problems with swallowing last 4.5 years, so i even take my Creon by opening capsule and mix it with apple suauce. Try to titrate turmeric, mix a little powder with food, see how you react, and add litlle bit more next time, but no more than 500 mg.
People with CP tryed everything. Some take pregabalin /Lyrica /, gabapentin, opiods and it helped them. But i am sceptical on these pharmaceutical poisons,Because of numeros side effects. They ruin allready ruined patients organi sam. But i understand. If it helps pain. You say you are in constant pain. Oh, how i understand you... At the moment i have CP pain, sciatica pain, inflamed pilodinal sinus pain, emphisema problems and on top of that i ve catched some stomach virus last days, so i am bearly alive. I don't know if i will survive... I highly recomend you medical cannabis. It was life saver for me all these years. For pain, nausea and apetite.. You have very good video on Mission cure about that. I hope that some of this will help you. Best wishies...
P. S. Yes. Ginger is effective too. Esspecially for nausea.
Thank you so much for your 2 replies & so sorry to hear about your ailments, you must feel awful. I am on tramadol, pregabalin & paracetamol as I have crumbling disks & small fractures in my spine. As I do take 1 tablet a day to keep my blood pressure to just below the acceptable rate so perhaps I will try the ginger to start, I luckily do not suffer with nausea only indegestion. Take care
Peppermint and lemon ginger tea is soothing
Apsolutly. Very healthy combination for stomach and pancreas. I ve been on yarrow, pepermint, chamomile and ginger combination tea for years. But i am on Essiac tea now and dont want to mix too much herbs. A litlle bit of interaction between them always exist. Not too much of course but i think it is unneccery. Few of them is enogh.
I'm visiting from the PA site.
Yes, I've recently started taking turmeric (why do some pronounce it 'tyumeric'?) but it's too early to see if it helps. I do use it topically and it seems to be shrinking a skin cancer lesion.
My real purpose here is about enzymes. My history is quite complex and would take far too long to go through but I was put on Creon for pancreatic insufficiency and malabsorption more than 35 years ago. I kept having to increase the amount taken until one day about 10 years ago I had a very severe allergic reaction and had to stop taking them. I still needed them, however, and tried a number of non-porcine formulations. None official as the NHS does not have any alternative to pancreatin. Eventually I settled on one herbal brand and have been on it ever since. My advice is to experiment.
One more point I need to make is that since I started proper self treatment of my PA by B12 injections my bowel problems are very much reduced and hope soon to claim 'cured'.
