I am trying to come off pregabalin 75 mg 3 ti... - Pain Concern
I am trying to come off pregabalin 75 mg 3 times a day any advice please
step down dose as directed by gp do not abruptly stop. please check with gp
Take the advice of " summer" go and see your gp. Don,t try and work it out yourself. Good luck
Depending on the dose and the length of time that you have been on it it can take several weeks, your GP will give advice on this,
The side effects are, can be severe including strong feeling of crawling the walls, headaches
and severe pains, I understand you will become short tempered and a bit of a pain, no pun intended towards other people. It can be not a very good experience.
To help there may be half doses that the doctor can give you do not rush this allow extra time and slow slow. time say one tablet a week..
Good luck

Thank you Bob
I have now got an appointment with pain management to discuss this hope he can help me
i had the same problem with temazepam, i used a pill cutter and week by week cut them smaller & smaller, it took me about six months a long time but in the end worth it. good luck you'll need it....take care
april.org.uk is a web site you may find useful. Contacting them may put you onto someone who knows your specilised problem.
The advice you had was see the GP. I do not trust GP's further than I can throw them. You need to double check everything the GP tells you. However it is important that you see the GP. You may be lucky and get the advice you need.

I am still in the process of coming off Pregabalin. My experience with GPs is that they think it is much easier to come off it than it actually is especially if you have been taking it for a long time. I was told to reduce by 100mg steps, but that was awful, so were 50mg steps. In the end I have been reducing by the smallest doses possible which is 25mg. It took me about 2 weeks to adjust to a lower dose.
Good luck.
Many drugs have withdrawal effects, The main person to take advice should be the doctor he knows you and your condition, if you do not feel that the GP is failing to give advice and you are unsatisfied you can insist to see a different doctor in the practice, If that proves to be onerous you really need to ask and see a specialist in the control of drugs, some charities can assist as mentioned earlier, you will find possibly and quicker to use your GP He knows you and can move faster than you if things go wrong
Over the years my GP has become a friend who knows me, the pathway that has been taken in the past and the best specialist to contact in my area when things go pear shaped.I may sometimes get annoyed with some decisions, until I realize he is trying to do his best, he has 5000 patients who also need care. Possibly I must be very lucky to be in such a practice.
So good luck in all our journies
BOB
On problem with withdrawal is that everyone is different, some get through it sooner than others, just a thought
good luck to all
