Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after years and years of back and forth to different clinicians. Having test after test with no diagnosis or answers. I have been on various medication regimes that haven’t really helped and I have used alcohol as a crutch to help me (or not as it turns out). I am here because I want to kick the alcohol, manage my pain, depression and anxiety and all that jazz! So Hello and I would love your support and advice. Thank you ✌️🫶

Hello to you, it’s certainly good to talk on here and very supportive. Pain is awful and I’ve learnt to put up with quite a lot. I never touch alcohol but I do have a sweet tooth. I think you should get some replies on here. We have to keep going the best way we can. I hate medicines and their side affects , I don’t take very much for that reason.
Morning Reiki. My sister has fibromyalgia it's not nice at all I feel for you. She's on many drugs, amitriptyline 40mg, naproxen, tramadol for starters. She has bad days and good days. I practically gave up alcohol when I got Rheumatoid arthritis and to be honest I don't miss it, I did like a drink. Now and again I'll have a very small whisky but not often. I have alcohol free mostly now. Good luck and I wish you well.
The NHS has support for lifestyle change, have you talked to your social prescriber at your GP surgery? Sometimes they give them a different name, like care navigator.
You can also find alcohol support services in your area from this page: nhs.uk/nhs-services/find-al...
Have you ever been referred to your pain service? They will also have support information, and many areas do courses often called things like Living Well or similar. In my area it's called the Health and Wellbeing College. They offer a whole range of support.
It is great you are embarking on this, but you will have more success if you don't go it alone, but meet with other people in the same boat so to speak.
I wish you great success!
