Costochondritis

It never rains but it pours. I spent all day Friday at A&E with a suspected heart attack. The pain woke me up at 5am and because I’d had this a couple of times before and the thought of a day in A&E, I had 7.5mls morphine and 2 paracetamol and actually slept for another couple of hours. It actually got worse.

In the back of my mind I remembered the consultant saying, ‘if this happens again, get to A&E quickly because it could be a heart attack.

After ECG’s, blood tests (high inflammation markers) and a chest x-ray I was eventually discharged. Suspected Costochondritis, possibly connected with untreated RA and fibromyalgia.. I still feel as though I’ve been through a mangle and another of my 9 lives gone (that’s just surviving A&E). My doctor was brilliant though but I was amazed by the number of nurses strolling around flapping pieces of paper or talking about their next night out at the nurses station.

Has anyone else had this?
