hello! I spend most of my time hanging out in the bed I share with my husband. I'm in probably 85 percent of the time. he's in just the time he sleeps, maybe, 20 percent? I've worn out my side much faster. we've flipped it si I've got the same side but turned, but the structure of the mattress is just compromised with springs out and a broken shape.
does anyone know of a bed that's double sized but that has two mattress one on each side? we don't have room for a bigger bed, and I'm recuperating from surgery still and some other stuff: not likely to reduce my bed time significantly soon. the same will happen again even if I get us a new mattress, and we don't have the income for that, and I can't get the sleep I need.
or any other tips? I'm open to suggestions 😊.

You could sample a memory foam mattress like those made by Tempur. Big downside is they are very expensive for a standard double we have a hard one and a cloud model which cost about £1500 each. However after 8 years or so neither have any impressions/ depressions where we lay but we don’t have your body mass issues. Our combined wt is about 22/3 stone.
One thing is that with Tempur you get a 60 day trial period which might be worth looking into.
We have a divan zip and link. I think the smallest you can get are 2 X 2feet 6 inch ones. Take a look at the Divan Bed Centre. I got mine from there and they have a sale on at the mo. I got a panda mattress topper too for it as I found it a bit hard my side and it's so comfortable. We don't bother zipping it as I don't use seperate sheets for single beds I use super king ones. Ours are 3 feet wide each.At least then you would only need to replace one of the mattresses when it's worn on your side.
You could buy a mattress topper as a temporary solution until you can purchase a new bed… I bought a 3 inch gel mattress cover for my mother’s horrible sofa bed and WOW what a difference this made I slept like a baby. Amazon sells them for a queen $79.00 so Im assuming the Double would be less.
thank you for the suggestions!I've wimped out again. using pillows to bolster where needed and moving to the floor with cushioning up the wazoo when I just can't stand it. and aching.
but, what's the point of having a good mattress now? the Arthritis is outta control, I haven't even had the mri on my knee and if I end up with surgery, it won't be for ages yet, my husband 'sleeps fine' so has no incentive to help. I'm feeling glum, and riding out the storm with an eye towards doing something as soon as I can feeeel like it's worth it.
I've written the suggestions down! I got a topper already, but Grumbly thinks it feels weird. the zip beds look interesting, altho I don't have the funds for a full on bed replacement. and we need the storage under the frame we have. but two skinny singles would fit in this frame. then, could just replace whichever one needs replacing as and when. I have tried a recent memory foam, and just don't seem to get on with the stuff. Onslow, I don't know what to suggest, I haven't really had much experience in _thinking_ about beds. I usually take what I get given or can afford. but there's an organization here in Newcastle pontyne, called disability north. I bet if you phoned them, they could either help or point you to help. they will be my next point of enquiry. I tend to gravitate toward first hand experience first.
thanks again! I'll let you know what steps I take.
