Dosing tramodol

I have been taking 75mg tramodol every other day in the early evening for lower back pain. Such relief! The problem is if I take it daily, it loses it's effectiveness at that dose. I don't want to increase the dose, as I would need to keep on increasing which leads to problems. Unfortunately, the evenings I don't take it, I'm miserable. I've thought of 50 mg daily, but I'm thinking the daily lower dose would eventually not work. Any one else had a similar struggle?

Like most pain relief drugs your body gets use to any medication you use, plus over time the relief you had when you first started appears to drop off, the reason is you forgot how bad it was and think that now it is not working so you want the drugs increased trying to get rid of all of your pain, the problem is no drug stopes all of your pain they only lower the amount that you feel, they are trying to allow you to manage your pain and get on with your day, My doctor tried to get me on Tramadol which did work except that they caused me to have chronic headaches so I had to stop taking them my head felt that someone was hitting me on my head with a hammer so he stopped them, I think I have tried just about everything over the years now I take several different drugs but my main one is Dihyhdrocoden 120mg twice a day along with pregabalin 150mg twice a day and amtriptyline 1 or 2 x50mg tablets before bed time, Nefopam 2x30mg 3 times a day I always said if you shake me I would rattel The reason for taking so many is my back is broke in 4 place's, the bones in my neck are slowly falling apart both hips and knee's need replacing but they do not want to do them as they tell me my blood pressure is high so they do not want to give me a general anaesthetic and due to the state of my back they do not want to try giving me

an epidural so it would mean doing it with no pain relief which they will not do.

Good luck finding something that works for you.

Hi, I had the same problem and decided to go with the 50mg daily. I also take pregabalin (450mg) and amitriptyline (60mg) at the time of reducing the tramadol I was on 50mg of amitriptyline and found that upping that by 10 to the 60 made the reduction of tramadol manageable.

Hi

I had been taking Tramadol for 7 years in increasing doses. It numbs the pain though also the mind.

Nothing actually erases the pain it only allows me to feel an amount of pain that I can handle.

I have weaned off Tramadol recently and am trying

Nefopam hydrochloride along with Duloxetin a gastro resistant for nerve pain this also helps with mental wellness.

I am told they are” non addictive” unlike opiates

My mind is so much clearer and I’m a lot more aware and active even though I have constant pain I can just get on and interact which is a bonus

It’s early days yet though I can give a thumbs up to this medication

Kindest Regards

All the best

Hello Nontoxic, if tramadol works for you there are several options. I use Maxatram SR which is slow release tramadol. I take two 50 mg per day with milder paracetamol as and when needed. Most people take more than one painkiller and there are many you could try. I would stick with the one that works for you remembering in time you may have to change anyway to meet the need to manage your pain. Most opiods are addictive but Tramadol is supposed to be one of the least addictive. Talk to your doctor see what they think?

I was on Tramodol for many years! I was put on a voluntary opiate removal course! I took max dose every day. Now this can be a good short-term drug but boy did I find out that it is not that good long term. Have you considered that the days you are miserable is your body graving the tarmodol fix? My course itself was over 4 weeks and then a weaning off period of 6 weeks. I now take Paracetamol as my go to pain killer and rarely at that.

As a result of this I no longer have the brain fog I had and the pain is no worse than it was on Tramodol. It is now managed with "Mindfulness and Distraction Techniques "

Link below explains what has happened in the USA and we are still heading that way.

Hi, have you tried taking 50mg + 2 paracetamol. The paracetamol boosts the Tramadol. That what I do since I found out about it.
