Hi Gordon292

I was prescribed Tapentadol about a month ago. I was in the 2nd week of increasing the dose. On the 2nd day of the second week I started getting symptoms very similar to seratonin syndrome which i was warned and given advice about before i started the medication. I felt sick, dizzy, I had extreme tiredness and I felt not in control of my body, it was an awful feeling. I could not get hold of the pharmacist at the pain clinic and as I feared seratonin syndrome I stopped the medication. After a few days I felt more myself again. I am now at a loss what to take for my severe spinal stenosis and sciatica as i have tried most drugs. The pharmacist at the pain clinic has suggested trying some of the drugs that I had tried about 7 years ago to see if they maybe effective now. At present I am on gabapentin, amitriptyline, dihydrocodeine and paracetamol, I have just stopped longtec as they were not doing much, do back to the drawing board.

I hope you have better luck with Tapentadol than I did.

Yes my husband has been taking Tapentadol for2 years. Came off Oxycontin and pain consultant prescribed a very low dose. GP increased and he now takes3 x 150 a day.

Do they work? Hard to tell as he has so many conditions resulting from a spinal injury.. Never had any side effects to my knowledge.

Consultant won't give him anything else so we stick with them.
