Welcome. Can you give us any more information? Where is pain? Cause of pain? What medications are you currently on? What things are you trying to ease pain?
Hi, are you having any rehabilitation or physio following your stroke and is your pain related to your stroke?
I had a chronic back problem and had the stroke on top of this. The movement in my right arm is limited due to pain. I was given a set of exercises but no actual pain relief or classes due to covid.
I'm sorry to hear that. Can you access physiotherapy? It may be worth asking as you are struggling and gaining some movement in your affected arm is obviously important. I was in hospital during the first covid lockdown with a flare up of COPD. On discharge I was seen at home by a community physiotherapist who visited for several weeks wearing PPE on each occasion. Obviously I don't know all the details of your situation but is your GP providing some pain relief medication? As for your back pain, I can only sympathise. My husband had chronic back pain and little eases it.
You could try reading about pain and what you can do about it yourself. IMO the best books I have come across so far are ‘A Way Out” by Alan Gordon curablehealth.com and the Curable app. Also “The Pain Habit” by Drew Coverdale the pain habit.com”. Hope you find your way out of pain.
We all know how you feel with pain, I try to remember that the next day might not be as bad, it gets me through. I am having a full right hip replacement next month aged only 61, so I am hoping that I can walk even small distances soon. I use hot baths as a way of soothing pain or showers, everyone has different things, also listening to music helps me as does hobbies, reading and crafting help me forget for an hour or so even if I pay for it later. What you need to do is get your thing, it can be watching the birds in the garden or having your favourite coffee, small things start to make life a little better. Do not think I am a positive person, quite the opposite sometimes a good cry helps me.
