I was on cocdamol for years did work but not great i am now on tramadol and cocdamol is taken off as she said they dont usually give both

Is anyone on here prescribed codine and tramadol as i have seen and heard people that are so want to check again before asking to add codine, i do have a lot of severe back conditions

Tramadol and cocodmol both contain opioids and shouldn't be taken at the same time. It could result in an overdose. It would be best to talk to a pharmacist. Many GP surgeries now have a pharmacist working with them that are there to answer queries like this.

Hi Cookie16, thats correct codiene is in cocodamol and is an opiod in the same catagory as Tramadol only one opiod should be given at once. These are the milder opiods if your pain is severe then you should receive a stronger opiod not two kinds. Hope this helps you. I have taken codiene and now use Tramadol in a small dose with paracetamol. As said in other posts a lot of surgeries now have a pharmacist or nurse who checks prescriptions for opiods especially. This sort of info is available from your local chemist that dispenses your drugs.
