You'll probably feel they're trying to get you moving and putting weight on it far too soon but do your very best, they know what they're doing. Likewise, do all the exercises, both before and after the op. Good luck! 😀

Use ice packs for the pain, they really help. Do the exercises religiously. I bought a small pedal machine from Amazon for less than £30. It was worth every pain, could sit and pedal away and gradually increase the resistance and the angle of bend in the knee.

Hi there, my husband was recommend a Game Ready machine and used it on his second knee replacement. The recovery difference between the two knees was vast along with reduced pain levels. Machines can be rented and would highly recommend!! Good luck with yours x

Hi Margaret, i had a half knee replacement 8 weeks ago. Do the exercises they give you at your pre-op straight away (before the op) it works the relevent muscles before you go through surgery. Start doing them as soon as possible after your surgery too and do them religiously. My hospital provided a cool pack device that you use in the hospital and bring home with you (a cryo cuff). If you get one too use it regularly to reduce swelling and inflamation. Rest lots with your foot up but potter around too.

If you aren't used to crutches, if you can, get used to them before your op so you're a pro before you need them 😂

My recovery has gone better than a text book recovery. I'm 53 and had the op following fracturing the bottom of my femur last July (delays due to covid). The fracture destroyed the in side meniscus too hence the replacement. This last week i've walked over 90,000 steps which i haven't been able to do for years!!

Best of luck xx
