Hi everyone I had my pacemaker taken out from my left side in July last year and a new one put in my right side a week later after having cardiac arrests I’m still in pain where my left one was removed and as for the right side the pain is all round my shoulder and right across my collarbone on both sides my doctor put me on tramadol which didn’t help I’m now on pregobalin 25 mg that is not doing any good I’m also taking paracetamol as well I’m at my wits end as the only time I get any relief is when I’m in bed but I can’t stay in bed all day I don’t know where to turn .
Chronic pain : Hi everyone I had my pacemaker... - Pain Concern
Chronic pain
The standard dose of pregabelin is 150mg twice daily. I took 75 mg 2 to 3 times daily for years after botched cervical disc surgery and found it to be efficacious. Perhaps you can ask your doc to up the dose? Best of luck...r
I have pregablin & duloxatine which helps with my nerve pain plus a wheatbag x
Hi there sorry to hear your meds not working there is also gabapentin to consider I found pregabalin didnt help me either maybe you could either up your dose or ask to try pregabalin. I'm actually having a videocall with Painmanagement in just over an hours time have you bern referred to Painmanagement? If not maybe you should ask your gp to refer you. Hope you get sorted out
Thank you I have to call the doctor on Monday to see if they will put me on a higher dose
Sorry that was ment to say try gabapentin. It's hard living with pain 24/7 but the people on here are such nice people and have alot of knowledge of different types of meds. I was on morphine for 6 years but decided to taper off it as the brain fog was horrendous!! So now my pain level rocket high !!! Hence why I'm speaking to Painmanagement today. I had back surgery in 1999 but pain issues still on going. I hope you get your meds sorted out soon
An old post hoping you've found some relief.
I'm a "grad" from pain management clinic. In FEB 2020. I learned biofeedback to manage my carbon dioxide verse oxygen levels. Helps some for dealing with: chronic fatigue, irritability, asthma. I read your post and fully understand we have different medical conditions going on. I was in the group with someone who had a new pacemaker put in. She was having delibating pain...
Pregablin and gabapentin only work if you are having nerve pain. This sounds more like costochronditis. There is no real treatment for that though except pain meds. Tramadol is not a true opiate. It is a a derivative of an opiate. But it still has a risk of addiction. It is a very mild pain reliever. What you may need instead is something for inflammation such as prednisolone/prednisone. Have you tried ice and heat?
