sometime back in the 1980's I developed a high pitch sound in my right ear. I can easily ignore that sound. However, I have a new sound that is loud enough that I can ignore it so easily. it sounds like a bag pipe is playing non stop, just the same sound, ugh! since I know what it is, I don't see any reason to go see a specialist. feedback please.

Help with Tinnitus
Hi texasbonnet
Might I suggest you put your post on British Tinnitus Association Forum - you`ll get more relevant help there.

Hi texasbonnet. I am sorry to read that you have developed a second very annoying sound in your tinnitus. I too have suffered with tinnitus for many years in one ear and unfortunately, because I have hearing loss (middle ear, so the use of hearing aid is useless) I can't cover it and any loud sound makes it actually louder. You say that you don't think you need to see a specialist but I would disagree with this. Yes, it may be that they tell you 'Tough, there's nothing wrong with you and you're just stuck with this' but it could be a sign of something else. For instance, having daily headaches with no sinister cause won't stop you to get another condition that requires treatment. Silly example but I suppose you get the gist.
You've been there before and you know how hard it can be to live with tinnitus but you get used to live like this and you have no other choice, unfortunately. I don't know if you followed some sort of tinnitus retraining therapy when you first started having your tinnitus back in the 80s but it may be useful.
All the best and remember that there are plenty of people like you all over the world! Be stronger than your tinnitus!
Thank you for taking the time to give me feedback. Useful feedback at that! I do agree I should see a specialist. I sometimes joke I had retire so I could make all my doctor appointments. The training you spoke of is not something I was told about or offered. When I see the doctor I will ask about it. The first sound I developed is called a "Mosquito band and this new is close to a bagpipe. Would be nice if they could play the same thing at the same times. I will get used to it, like you said no choice. I am just thankful it isn't painful.
Happy to help. By the way, I just remembered that: if you have issues falling asleep because of the tinnitus, you will need to find a sound that matches the tinnitus noise/frequency. In my case, the sound of falling rain works a treat to drown my tinnitus. At the start of having tinnitus, after weeks of not being able to eat or sleep because of the upset it was causing me, I bought myself this CD of falling rain. I put it on when trying to fall asleep and before I knew it, I could sleep again. It tricks your mind and within weeks you won't need it anymore. Personally, I would advise against listening to the radio or even music in order to fall asleep, but what do I know?Take care.
It may not be significant but i have suffered with Tinnitus all my life to some degree. My hearing deteriorated badly as i aged and i need Hearing aids to help with that. I found that as soon as i started to wear the Hearing Aids my Tinnitus stopped ! Maybe one sound wiped out the other ? i can`t say .
I suffer with pulsate tinnitus, one day it might be a booming heartbeat and the next like electrical wires, you should definitely get your hearing checked , when mine is very bad I get Stimital from the doctor, I have learned to mask the sound over the years but sometimes white noise helps more.
