Just a query ; has anyone else been given "Lidocaine infusions" for chronic pain?

I'd be interested to know how many, if any have been put on them.

Hi yes I’ve had the Lidocaine infusion treatment was two week duration for Chronic pain in my right Ankle after having twelve operations including ankle fusion then replacement ankle I the infusion was a tough ask the infusion was controlled by two pumps sometimes I did not know what day it was and did not recognize my wife when she came to visit me towards the end of the treatment they’re was a great reduction in the pain and once the treatment was completed I felt very good I could put my full weight on my ankle and it felt very good BUT after five to ten days the pain returned and I am back to square one I’m very disappointed with the results informed my pain consultant of the situation we are all disappointed especially as this infusion treatment is not an easy one where you are connected to tubes and monitors twenty four hours a day I was able to get out of bed and in to my own wheelchair so I could move about the ward .Anyway that’s about all for now if that treatment was offered to me again I would definitely refuse it as it didn’t work for me ,If you did have the treatment I wish you the best of luck .if you need any further info send me a message bye for now

What are you using now for pain control? I hope you have an anti-inflammatory med and a pain medication. Good luck.

I have the infusions in an "experimental" way, created by my chronic pain specialist. The infusions take about 2 ½ hours and then after half hour wait I am allowed to go home. (as long as I am accompanied. The pain relief in my lower spine, hip, groin, thigh and foot is amazing and it allows me to reduce the amount of opiate medications that I take. I have the infusions every two months now and have suffered only minor side effects. I hope that you are able to find the right help soon.

I had first just Lidocaine and it worked during but when it stopped the pain returned. Last Sunday I tried Lidocaine and Magnesium Infusion, again it work during and lasted a bit longer afterwards but the pain in my arm radiating upwardswhere the canular had been was really painful for a couple of hours. It says it may give you flu like symptoms for I think 10 days afterwards too. I actually feel awful so for me it was worth a try but again not a positive result x

I have patches that I wear for 12 hour periods. Not a cure but better than any tablets I’ve been given and no side effects for me.
