I have in been in the process of overcoming a very painful back condition. The pain was such that I ended up on 100 mg of Tramadol every 6 hours. Although the intolerable pain was reduced I had unpleasant effects fro taking the drug.Now I am over the worst of the pain and have discontinued with the Tramadol I am having what can only be described as withdrawal symptoms of night sweets,lose of appetite, weight lose, shivering on and of, and worst of all my mind is being affected to cause me concern.I can't believe that having been on Tramadol for only 9 days it could affect me so severely. Can't wait to become more normal. Are there others with the same results of this drug after such a short time on them

Yes it's a wicked drug, I used to have virtually the same side effects but was haunted with restless legs syndrome for nearly two weeks straight. Don't panic the withdrawal will ease then disappear. Keep your mind active, sleep when you can and stay hydrated. I know you don't want to eat so get some power bars that athletes use or those snack bars with fruit and nuts in. Every day is another day to full recovery and you WILL feel normal again, take it from me, I've been through it. Oh and listening to music from your youth also makes you forget, try it, works wonders, sing along like nobody's listening.👍
Sorry but the music from my youth is classical and sadly the Proms in UK have beem severely curtailed due to Covid. I can only take refuge in the dear old BBC Radio 4 and various podcasts. All; I want to do is to go to bed. Despite this I have had my grandsons for the weekend have had to cook a full roast meal on Sat night and fried breakfast for them this morning, then gardening and housework all afternoon so I now feel exhausted whereas before this I would still be OK. I hope it soon goes away as I am so tired.
Sadly Sargrith, Tramadol plus many other drugs can cause some people massive side effects after only short times. I take Tramadol but not the amount you were taking and I don't seem to be addicted either. However I have found recently that I get some symptoms like you are saying but most likely due to longer term use. Glad you are able to come off them as that sounds like things are improving fingers crossed for you that you are on the way to recovery now. Stay safe and every best wish.
Hi sargrith, did you slowly reduce the doses of tramadol? I remember when I was taking it I just stopped and I had horrible withdrawal symptoms. I thought I was dying, I had the sweats, felt sick, couldn't sleep but I couldn't walk around or keep my eyes open. That was the worst I've ever felt and it really frightened me, I then took a dose of tramadol and I started to feel better. I then slowly reduced the tramadol for as long as it took. I've been on dihydrocodeine/paracetamol/ibuprofen for over 2 years, waiting for back inections for severe spinal stanosis. The day after medial nerve injections my back pain went so I stopped taking painkillers. My mistake was not to tail them off, according to my GP. I;ve been feeling like death warmed up for the last week and am still taking half the dose but can't even do my housework or gardening for a few minutes before needing to sit down. I have no energy at all, have a bit of diarrhoea and feel listless. Surely it should have normalised by now. I;m ringing my GP tomorrow to see what she says.
Wow, that's a lot of family commitments. I understand that having family around you is important but you really should be concentrating on YOU at the moment. You need to rest and recover honey, not cooking large meal's. There are loads of comedy podcasts around and laughter really helps to lift your mood. I went cold turkey and the doctor prescribed me with a small supply of calming/sleeping meds to get me past the worst. Don't suffer in silence, don't minimise your symptoms, tell the doctor your really struggling. Were here in your corner rooting for you. 💯❤️
I now realize by coming of Tramadol without tapering the dose other than down from 400mg mg in 24 hours to 200mg was wrong. I am in the most unpleasant predicament. One moment I think I'm doing well then my mode changes. As I was only on 100mg x 4 for 6 Days and for and 50mg x 4 for 2 day, I think the price paid is high for 6 days and counting to be back to normal has been high. The pain and discomfort coming off has opened my eyes to how unpleasant these drugs can be. My diet and appetite are completely changed. I'm hoping for sleep tonight although the imipramine I'm now back on may need more time to give good effect. I've been of this drug for 58 years. It was originally called Tofenal and had it not been developed I don't think I'd have lead the happy normal life I have. I shudder to think what might have been the outcome
Im contemplating taking Tramodol for severe Neuropathy-Fibro.
I understand you had a good 58 years on it for your pain, which i find amazing and encouraging.
Did it stop working now? Is that why you stopped?
Did it make you gain or lose weight while on it?
I deeply appreciate your response as to any adverse effects this med may bring with it. I am desperate for relief and have a hard time falling asleep too.
I’m only taking 100 mg at night and I’ve been fine with it. I’m sure you shouldn’t come straight off and you have to reduce your mg intake over time before stopping. Speak to your Gp as it sounds like withdraws symptoms.
I had to take Tramadol earlier this year for a painful shoulder and it is a powerful drug I remember going in the bathroom one morning and my eyes were really big and scary looking back at me !!
