I developed considerable pain mainly in the muscular areas. The doctor have me a blood test and out me on codeine awaiting results. The codeine did not seem to do much
good and it became increasingly difficult even to dress myself . The results confirmed extremely high levels of inflammation confirming her suspicions . I was prescribed Preds initially 15 mg daily and immediately the pain vanished. This was months ago and am now on 5 mg per day. Truly a miracle cure. !

make sure that your doctor prescribes medication to stop brittle bones. This is a side effect of long term use of steroids (hopefully, this will not apply in your case)
They’re marvellous aren’t they. I’m so glad you’ve found relief from your pain.
Do you know what your levels of inflammation were or what caused the flare? Did they give you the ESR or CRP readings? Will they let you stay on 5mg forever do you think? Did taking 15mg make you put on weight? Sorry so many questions, just curious, I consistently have high inflammation but have never been offered an explanation or steroids.
Possobility, but this disease ,PMR, seems to be unpredictable. I started on 15mg and am now on 5 mg. No noticeable side effects. The inflammation I think was originally about 80 I think. Normally should be 15 I think ? The cortisone steriod works by lowering the immune system effect which caused the inflammation in the first place . Also on calcium medication for the bones .The steroid is predistonone, absolutely marvellous, instant , and completely effective. The pain I was getting before was becoming unbearable, to hell with side effects !
Thank you Darkin, gosh that was high! No wonder you were suffering. Is PMR Polymyalgia Rheumatica? Must feel amazing to be free of the pain. Excellent result 👍 😊
