Has anybody has these tablets before? I’m wondering if anybody had any side effects from them. Such as breathlessness or having pressure or tightness on chest?
Naproxen: Has anybody has these tablets before... - Pain Concern
Naproxen
Yes I did
Hi Della30,do u mean you got the problems I mentioned?
Would you please explain your reply in detail I don’t really know what you meant by your short reply 🙊
Do you suffer with Asthma?
No I don’t
Hi, only can speak in regards to my experience on naproxen.
I take it for R/A and have for many year's now, on a whole its a good anti inflammatory, but I woud say this.
1:Make sure you eat a little while before taking it and take it with a big drink whilst taking it.
2: if it works well for you (fingers crossed) do not get complacent with it follow the prescribed dose always.
3: please excuse spelling if wrong (omporazole) usually you get given this as a tummy liner worth taking too.
I have had none of the effects you mentioned but we are all different but it works for me.
If the doctor has given you them the speak to your GP to double check and if you do decide to take they please remember the above points.
Take recommend dose but eat before taking and have a large drink to take it with too.
Best of luck.
Stay safe.
One thing I’ve always tried to remember is what’s said - to take with food. This evening I didn’t and I’m thinking maybe that didn’t help at all. Thanks for your advice pat66
Yes I did, although it helped with my pain, the side effects were too much, wheezing, breathlessness, chest tight, epigastric pain, I felt the muscles of my tummy were bn torn
By the way I was also took omeprozale but still did not help.
Sorry for the short answers, in pain and fidgeting to find comfortable position. Hope I have answered your question. I think naproxen although a very good anti inflammatory can be contraindicated in those with asthma which I suffer from.
No problems at all, unless I have too much, I was prescribed 500mg twice a day, but felt spaced out. I now take 250mg once a day. Works for me.
This is a known side effect of Naproxen. Its not supposed to be prescribed for Asthmatics. Contact your GP or 111 because it could be the tablets or the virus. Take care. Oh and for others the naproxen suppositaries cause the same problem.
NSAIDs are contraindicated for anyone with asthma
I've been on 500mg in the morning and 500mg at night for about 5 years. They have not effected my breathing but I'm not Asthmatic like some people on here. I get the ones with the coating on so do not have to take the stomach lining pills I also don't take with food and have been ok. I take them for joint hypermobility and trapped nerves along with lyrics. I'd ask for different tablets if they are effecting your breathing.
Naproxen really worked as a pain killer but it effected my kidneys so I can't take it.
My doctor prescribed Naproxen. 5 years now. With all my medicines I'm double weight, I have breathlessness.
Both myself and my wife have had Naproxen. We never experienced any side effects. Obviously, some get side effects, but we have taken these tablets and as said been ok.
I've taken them before, never had breathlessness or tight chest....only stomach cramps as they are harsh on the stomach so you should take lansoprazole with it.....
Do you have a cough?
Or flu like symptoms
I don't mean to scare you but coronavirus causes tightness in chest and difficulty breathing i think you should contact 111 immediately. 🙏
Read the leaflet in the box it may say causes breathlessness I've been on them 3 yrs never had a problem but I do take lansoprol which is an indigestion tablet that helps good luck
I have no side effects. But have been advised to take Oneprazole gastro resistent 30mg as well
Thanks for all your replies, I’ve noticed most of you are fine with the tablet ... maybe I do need to talk to the doc and maybe ask for another tablet instead.
I was on 500mg twice a day for six years, along with other meds as I have nerve damage due to damaging my spine 28 years ago. Have other health issues as well and collapsed with a seizure 3 years ago. Had to have a blood test after that and the full results showed that the naproxen had affected my liver. I wasn't aware that one of the rare side affects can be liver damage. End result is that along with everything else, I now have Non-Alcoholic-Fatty-Liver-Disease. I now have full blood works done every three months, it's being 3 years now and my liver is slowly improving, would be quicker but for the other meds I take. Was working to change my meds and dosages but in these times I can't risk going outside, so blood tests are out of the question and my doctor isn't taking any face to face consultations. Still, I intend to be around for a lot longer so will have plenty of time to do it.
My point is really look into the medications you take and their side effects. Also, check for interactions between you medications as well. There are decent resources and websites available to use. Be informed, it's your health.
Hi i'm currently taking Naproxen 2 x 500mg a day. I've not had any problems regarding breathing although they do tend to give me some indigestion. Which can make my chest feel a little tight and make you feel as if you lose your breathe. Due to the wind. I also suffer with anxiety so that doesnt help. I was prescribed omeprazole to take alongside the Naproxen. Are you taking this also?
Ringing in the ears like you wouldn't believe. Have been taking 250mg for a year or so for cervical spondy. Helps with the pain but ringing driving me maaaaad!
