Long term pain meds

So I’ve been taking ibuprofen everyday now for about a month or so to keep the pain from Costochondritis at bay.. I’m now getting super paranoid about it causing stomach Ulcers ? I’m just wondering how long you have to be taking it to cause this? As at the moment I can’t not take it or my Costochondritis plays right up!

So that was a month ago? And you have been using OTC meds bought yourself?

If they aren't working then see your GP. He should be able to prescribe something which works

There are medications which can be taken for long term Ibu use to help prevent stomach burn out.

But it is not a good idea to take it long term anyway.

Good luck.

Ok thanks! X

Hi, you need either Omeprazole or Lanzoprazole. You take one of these every morning to protect your tummy then you'll be fine.

Hi go see your doctor. Ibrufen never helps me. See if you can have naproxen 500ml twice a day. I take for a week which takes the inflammation right down. I stay off the pills for a while then as it can affect your liver, I've been having blood test once every couple of months. No medication is good for anyones inside but living with costocondritis is extremely hard, and to take no medication is difficult. Wish you well.

Before I was put on a med that apparently you can't get in the UK (I'm in Australia) I was on prednisone for my costochondritis. Just something to also ask your dr about.
