I got to see an Orthopaedic consultant on Tuesday and he said that he can't see anything wrong that is causing my back pain only at night. He has referred me for a MRI scan just to cover everything. But if everything is ok I will just have to cope with it

Hi buddy, got a similar problem with around my hip area. Had pain around the hip after running decided to have a break to try and sort it out. Rested for a week done one run and its back. So now only doing minor walking for a while to see if it goes. Than I will go to the doctors.
My back pain started way before starting running and doesn't affect my running at all. It is really odd that I have no back pain at all and the minute I go to bed my lower back and ribs start to hurt
Hope you both feel better soon. I've had lower back and hip pain. I've got sciatica and spondylitis. I've now been diagnosed with degeneration of the facet joint. Please take care of yourself Lynne
Thanks for that, I think it could be sciatica after being took about the symptoms. As pain is Exactly how they describe it. Plenty of walking for the next week or so.
To improve your sleeping posture without medication try sleeping on your back with no pillow under your head and a bolster cushion under your knees. This will tilt your pelvis up & remove any tension in your lower back & rib cage. Persevere for week or so as your body will try to revert to its usual sleep posture whereas you’re teaching it a new one.
If you need a pillow under your head try very low one as the intention is to straighten the spine whilst tilting the pelvis.
To further relax deep muscle tension have a warm aromatherapy (lavender) bath before bed. Don’t rush it or get distracted by technology (no tv or phone), take the time to focus on you.
