Hi I am already a member on here, I am living with chronic nerve pain. I have already had advice about trying different things, which I have tried and I’m grateful for. I have now just started to have acupuncture I’ve just finished my 2nd session and I’ve booked in for 5. My nerve pain is in my one leg but all around the knee which nobody can touch. I’ve just had to try it once again I’ll give anything a try. Has anyone out there tried this for the same as I have please????? I’m praying at least maybe it will get a little easier. I had acupuncture years ago for pain in my shoulder and it helped, although it wasn’t nerve pain like I have now. Thanks Chrissy

Im sorry you have to put up with it as chronic pain is so awful to live with , it's a fine balance my friend x
Hello Christinecove. I tried acupuncture for PHN following shingles in January this year on my right-hand rib cage front and back after a friend told me she had had PHN for 3 years but acupuncture had cleared it up. I didn’t ask her at the time which acupuncturist she had seen. Anyway, I went to one and had weekly sessions for 3 months. I think it did me good in other ways but did not touch the PHN pain unfortunately. I have tried all sorts of things both orthodox treatments and complementary/alternative and so far, nothing has really made any difference sadly. I have had small outbreaks of shingles for years and had regular acupuncture over a long time but it never stopped them and, in fact, they are still occurring which seems particularly cruel after the massive outbreak in January. The acupuncturist I was going to then had retired by the time I decided to try it this time so it was someone different
I saw. He can’t really understand why his treatments have not made any difference to the pain. I have stopped going for the moment to see a herbalist
I was recommended to see but the remedy she prescribed did nothing either. At present, I am trying reflexology although do not have a great deal of confidence that that will help either but live in hope! Like you, the whole area is very sensitive and I can hardly bear to touch it myself although I have at times when trying a variety of topical creams, lotions and potions, none of which have made any difference. I do hope that it helps you. Please let us know. Sending healing vibes.
Chrissy try laser therapy..that can help nerve pain I have heard...look for a practioner that uses a K Laser..there is a clinic called perfect balance in the south east where a chiropractor called Steve who has an MSc in neuroscience uses it. Also try PEA supplement ..rhat is good for nerve pain and will help you sleep
Hello,
I have chronic nerve pain that resulted from a back surgery; tthis is why back surgeries are so dangerous because they can leave you worse off. The pain is predominately in my left foot, left outer thigh and occasionally goes to my right foot and calves. I have tried just about everything including multiple visits for accupuncture. Unfortunately it did not relieve my pain. I notice my pain is worse some days and evenings tend to be worse. When I get good sleep and stress levels are lower, the pain can be lower. Of course, all the time I am taking medication (pain killers) for the pain which does help me (thank goodness they have not taking that away yet in the USA, but they are trying to conflate true chronic pain patients and people taking opiods (mostly illegal) for getting high).
I am all about natural medicine.Acupuncture was and is my savior for a lot of what ails me.I myself tried several different acupuncturists till I found the most qualified and the right fit for me. FYI.. drink plenty of water afterwards and keep and open mind it may take several treatments for ur body to say..Hey this is good for me and gonna help me.
My acupuncturist is also offers Chinese herbs which really helps a lot also.
I hope this helps u also.
Aw thank you, yes the one I’m going to does the Chinese Herbs etc, so fingers crossed. Thanks for the tip about the water.
I am afraid like most chronic pain sufferers (suffered now for the past 15 yrs, cocktail of opioids daily) acupuncture sadly did not work for me. My acupuncturist was one of the best at Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicines, the HQ for British Acupuncture. I hope you have better luck than me.
