Does anyone know why Gaviscon Advance is only available in the UK?

Gaviscon is made and marketed by a UK company. The don't market Gaviscon Advanced in America. I haven't been able to find out exactly why, but it could have something to do with the active ingredient, alginate, which is made with seaweed. Maybe it hasn't passed regulatory processes in the US? The US version does have it in but at a much lower amount, so it is listed as a non-active ingredient.
