Hi everyone! I was misdiagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis after the medication I was put on almost killed me. Now under a new consultant and was told if my MRI was clear of inflammation (which is was) she’d diagnose me with fibromyalgia at my next appointment. However I’m really struggling with rib pain! I’ve had this ache for years but it’s gradually got worse. Last time I saw a GP I was told it was inflammation (2 years ago maybe) and told to use ibuprofen gel which helped. Since my reaction to the RA meds causing renal issues, I’m not allowed anti inflammatories now. The pain has been gradually getting horrific the last few months and is now spreading to the other side of my rib cage. It feels muscular and not pleuritic as breathing doesn’t affect it but I can’t sleep because I can’t get comfy. I’ve got quite bad health anxiety due to losing my dad and Nan within 8 weeks of each other very suddenly, and I’m convinced it’s something nasty 🙁 Has anyone else with fibromyalgia experienced this? I’m seeing my GP in a few days
Hello!: Hi everyone! I was misdiagnosed with... - Pain Concern
Hello!
Hi bloop45, I have fibro and with fibro I have costochondritius I know the spelling is wrong sorry. It's the same pain as you describe but you should have gp aware of it.my costchonsrtius comes and goes, taking a deep breath is very painful and I can't get comfortable. There are others with fibro that suffer the same. Take care. Chris
Hi Bloop! Hope you’re sleeping soundly as 1am, but wondering if you have tried acupuncture? Pretty amazed at times. Believe in Western medicine, my career, but I certainly would try.
I was diagnoised with Psoriatic Arthritis after suffering for 1.5 yrs with horrible joint pains including at one my point ribs, ouch. You could try using a heating pad on your ribs.
Could you have migrated metal hardware in your lungs.
Filshie and Hulka clips can migrate as far as the lungs. I’d ask for an X-ray.
Thank you everyone, my GP thinks it’s costocondritis probably from a positional change (I’m now doing admin 3 days a week) so he said what would be a twinge to someone else the fibro has amplified it. He’s deemed me safe for anti inflammatories and started me on naproxen which has helped!
