The oxynorm is quick acting- 20 minutes. And lasts for about 6 hours.

The Oxycontin is slower to act- about one hr, and may only last for 8to 10 hrs, depending on the metabolism of the patient. It only lasts 9 hrs with me ( 65kg and high metabolism- I burn up energy fast )

Hope that helps.

You need to ask the dr or pharmacist. This is a schedule 2 drug.

Good luck.

I take a mix of both Oxynorm and Oxycontin. Bearing in mind we are all different, Oxynorm works within 5 minutes for me and Oxycontin takes 10 minutes, however I find a mix of both very helpful indeed. I only take this medication as and when I need it, not on a daily basis otherwise I would just get used to it. I prefer Oxynorm, however as I said, we are all different and really you need to discuss the options with your doctor to get their professional opinion based on your circumstances. Good luck and I really hope you find something to help your pain xx
