People think I’m lying , dont ,believe me

Even rude at times

Often times family are our worst critics. It is sad but true. I don't understand people who think (no matter what is your medical problem) that you ought to be able to pull yourself back up by your bootstraps! I could understand if you were a person who spent your life working ”the system”; however, when you had a career, worked long hours and progressed in it over 30 years, why some people are certain you are faking it or malingering. Geez!! Hang in there and consider the source of the criticism.

It is hard to explain to family about pain and suffering if they have never had it they don’t understand. I have always worked and been fit and healthy, then started with pain in my lower back and hands. After years of being told it was nothing, I finally got a diagnosis last year of IA, and still people say you just need to get on with it, I’d like to see them try when you are in that much pain you don’t know what to do.

Don’t let other people get you down. Your dog is lovely I lost mine earlier this year. Do what you can do and nothing more. Talk to others on the forums it helps because we understand what you are going through.

@cenzo Oh god yes. I had to cut my Dad out of my life because he became verbally abusive. He expected me to just "push through the pain", and "pull my socks up" (re: depression). He thought I was lazy and enjoying my life on benefits. Ha!
