I have intense itching/burning in my arms and have been prescribed Amitriptyline 10mg for pain relief for Brachioradial Pruritis. How long does it take before benefits are noticed?
Amitriptyline: I have intense itching/burning... - Pain Concern
Amitriptyline
My son started taking this for burning pain in his feet and legs. I think it took a week for things to settle down, and the pain relief continued to get better. It wasn't a sudden thing like when you take a painkiller and your headache goes away, it was more gradual until one day he said, 'oh, I hadn't noticed, I don't have that burning pain anymore at all'.
Hi, I take 100mg at night so I can sleep, 1 hour before I go to bed. I know dry mouth is side affect of Amitriptyline and I cannot sleep if I don't take them, the last time the Doctors tried I didn't sleep for a week and ended up saying for god sake start taking them again before you die.
I have been taking it for four weeks now for tingling in hands, feet and, well, anywhere now. I started by taking just half a 10mg tablet for a couple of days and building up to 10 mg after 4 or 5 days, as I had been prescribed this several years ago, not warned about taking it at night, and had a very adverse reaction. Having now read about amitripylene, I take this at about 8pm. Wonderful sleep from the off, but took 2-3 weeks to really kick in with regard to the tingling going completely, and I was feeling great. However I had a nerve conduction study done on Friday (awaiting results) and have been tingling like crazy ever since. No sleep at all last night. I have just taken 15mg for tonight..... When taken for pain relief is it normal to have to increase the dose at intervals?
