Slipped disc not budging from nerve.. X

Hi everyone.. Ive just had an mri that showed ive slipped a disc in lower back that is pressing on the sciatic nerve and the l5 s1 nerve..am awaiting operation... . Im not in much pain now and have had a numb foot and leg for a month now.. Recently my foot has become really tight especially when I want to go to the toilet.. Feels like when i push my nerve is being pulled out of my foot!! ( i know.. Wierd right!!) has anyone else suffered from this??

I get it in my hand due to a trapped nerve in my neck.. it feels horrible.

Oh do you?? Its so strange isnt it?? So is it a pulling sensation in your hand?

in reply to

Yes it pulls, feels like the palm of my hand is tightening.

Oh i thought i was going nuts!! Been off work for a month now and am boted senseless.. Need a disc removed from my back as my right leg and foot is numb.. But that pulling is awful.. Xx

I have had it for about 15 years, I had an accident where I got my hand crushed, so it affected my neck and I got arthritis in it now. The accident pulled on my arm and resulted in a nerve being trapped. It's not something that bothers me a lot, I do certain exercises that control it, so most of the time it's fine.

I was off work too and I went potty, so I feel for you.

The pulling is awful, it just feels so unatural...

Do you have to wait long to have the disc removed?

in reply to

I’ve got an appointment to see a surgeon at kings hospital in London on July 14th.. then just got to wait for a date to have it done..going to be about 7 weeks I wouldve thought...x

in reply to

I hope you get it in seven weeks, it can take longer these days with the NHS being how it is.

How long of a recovery time will you need?

in reply to

They say the recovery time is about a month for me to get back to work.. Fingers crossed.. X

in reply to

Well I hope it all goes ok for you, fingers crossed indeed.

Yes, there isn't always another choice, but it will be worth it in the end.

I hope you don't get to bored sitting around. Have you got anything to help you pass the time?

in reply to

Yes im trying to stretch and do gentle exercise, light housework and catching up on reading which i haven't done for ages.. Im going to do a short course online to pass the time too.. Xx
