I've just been told that the CT scan I had on 1st February revealed a fractured vertebra (T5). I KNEW it was painful but nobody would listen - I'm just the patient!!
Fracture: I've just been told that the CT scan... - Pain Concern
Fracture
Unfortunately it's a well known fact that GPs don't have good listening skills and are very quick to fob us off. It's happened to me on several occasions over the years and I decided to change to another GP practice and I have to say that my new GP is brilliant. I hope you now get the help you need and good luck. X
Thanks lowlife! I'm sitting here in p at the moment and feel like there's no,-one to tell. I can't even get an appointment with my GP!
I know how you feel because I went through the same ordeal. When you do get to see your GPS ask for referral to pain management as they teach you how to manage the pain and can offer pain injections and medication to help you.
Always a long waiting list for pain management so I hope you get the appointment through soon.
They always take a long time. I think it's a flaw in that hospitals systems
I hope not I had a scan last Wednesday and got an appointment for the result this Wednesday.I've had my own problems with my GP stretching over nearly 4 years.Cutting a long story short I've had pains in my calf and foot which started four years ago I told I thought it might be vascular disease because I had it in the opposite leg 20 years previous. After various tests it was decided I had neuropathy which I've been treated for ever since with every nerve and anti depressant drugs you can name all with no improvement in my leg pains.I complained to him the pains weren't consistent with neuropathy but was told to accept it.3 months ago I saw a podiatrist for what I thought was an in growing toenail .She checked the pulses in my leg and told me she was advising my GP I should be referred to a vascular clinic because she couldn't feel a good pulse in my foot. When I saw my GP he checked the pulses and said they seemed OK to him and did I still want to be referred I said yes I did.I went to the vascular clinic and after an ultrasound test was told there was a blockage of the popliteal artery behind my knee .that's what the CT scan was for last week.I've seen my GP since and told him I wasn't happy at my treatment but he was still quite bullish. It's so frustrating I know exactly how you feel .Best wishes.

Morphalot it’s not fare that people that should be listening to you just don’t. I had fallen and went to the hospital, because I thought I had did Something to my ribs the doctor squeeze my upper chest and my upper back and asked if I felt that I said no.i had two c-sections and kidney stones I know what real pain is. For one thing that’s not where it was hurting. I told her I wanted an x-ray, she said you will get one. So I got an x-ray. The tech taking the x-ray saw that I had a black and blue, she said to me that must hurt and I said to her, yes it does. Do you think the doctor looked, no she didn’t. I went back to the room and the doctor peeked into the room and said you have a fractured rib and I will be right back. My husband was sitting in the room and said boy you diagnosed your MS now a fractured rib—- then he said can’t you pick 6 good numbers ( the lottery) I said no I can’t. The doctor came back and gave me something for the pain. But never once apologize, she couldn’t do that. So I know what your going through. I hope everything goes well with you with your appointment. Try not to dwell on it, I know it’s easier said than done.
Sorry you've had such a bad time. I've also had a kidney stone and the pain is no joke. Take care
I’m ok now but it is so bad when doctors don’t listen to you when I told my doctor 2years before I was finally diagnosed my self with MSafter I told him something was wrong because I was tripping because my left foot was dragging you know what that blankety blankety doctor said I was having women problems. Don’t you worry I don’t have him any more, and they go to school for what, to be idiots, then he must have gotten an A for that.
Sorry for my ranting but I cannot stand doctors that do not listen to you.
Ok I’m done.
Bye for now 😎
I really feel grateful. I have rheumatoid arthritis. Onset was juvenile. I have been treated well with regard to pain by all of my physicians the past 45 tears. I am so sorry you have not found good relationships. I am very loyal and stick with my GP and Rheumatologist for many years. I hope you all get the help you need
Hello, am new here and read your entire post and thread. Your pain and the thoracic fracture.......the actual fresh fracture may be actual small type fissures that may not be causing the pain, but the collapsing of the vertebrae does cause pain.
Within 5 days of your fracture did the surgeons injected the liquid medical compound around the fractured vertebrae which hardens to create a permanent brace that hopefully will prevent your verebre from collapsing more.
In 2016 I had a seizure, hit the wooden floor hard and my husband had the paramedics take me to a large hospital. Kept me 4 days to determine what caused the seizure and performed every brain scan, MRIs, blood work, CT scans, you get the picture. I was feeling like an old wet wash cloth during those 4 days of testing, but no pain in the area of the fractured vertebrae found by the MRI of my spine.
The seizure was simply an anomaly. The surgeons injected the medical compound which hardens creating a permanent "brace" so the vertebrae will never collapse, which is painful and cannot be mended. I have never had pain from the fracture before or after the procedure.
My concern for you did the surgeons conduct that procedure on your fractured vertebrae within 5 days before it had a chance to start collapsing, causing pain? This procedure is done routinely particularly for women who may be prone to developing osteoporosis.
Push your doctor about this, really push...I'm in the US and if he knows about this...it's a vertebroplasty, I believe....see if it is not too late to get some good to help even though the 5 days is long gone. xxxxx
No that didn't happen, but there are reasons for that. I was having a lot of pain in my thoracic spine which was put down to degenerative disc disease. VB I had to have an x-ray recently for chest infections and they found a fracture.
