Silly question but what do you take at night to help?

It's not a silly question just my normal zapain and gabapentin, oralmorph if I'm having a severely painful day but apart from that nothing, I havnt had more than 4 hrs sleep a night for over 5 yrs and that's not even all in one period I sleep for around an hr and then wake up for a couple of hrs etc etc, more often than not I only have 2 hrs a night and quite often none at all 😒 I asked the doctor if they could give me something to help but they would and just suggested trying out no medical ideas like lavender in my pillow or camomile tea or warm milk etc πŸ™ˆπŸ˜†

I used to really suffer with lack of sleep too so have a tiny idea of how you feel.

I felt like a zombie, if I sleep, I cope with my pain so much better.

My doctor prescribed amitriptyline for me for over night pain relief which meant I started to sleep. I've also got zopiclone if things are really bad but as they're habit forming I take once every couple of months if I'm having a really tough time.

I know we're all different and I'm not saying what works for me will help you, but it might be worth chatting about amitriptyline with your gp?

I've also got an aromatherapy diffuser that fills our bedroom with a herbal blend called sweet dreams, this also helps.

I did enquire about amitriptyline but they wouldn't prescribe it because I m already taking gabapentin and she wouldn't even consider any kind of sleeping tablets as she said I don't need them as I don't have a problem falling asleep only a problem with staying asleep and she would only prescribe them to someone who has difficulty going to sleep 😩😑

I'd suggest seeing a different GP. There are two main types of sleeping problem one is falling to sleep and the other is staying asleep. I suffered from the not staying asleep. Again I'm not a medical professional and I'm only going on what I've experienced.

I'm currently on Pregablin and Amitriptyline, I've tried gabapentin and duloxetine. I was also taking Amitriptyline at the time as taking these. I think it flags due to both drugs having sedating effects.

I really hope you can get some help soon
