Hi Manju, I also have same or similar. I have been referral d to physio which does ease the pain eventually with perseverance. I would also recommend acupuncture. Try gentle, low impact exercise such as swimming or/ and Pilates. Wishing you speedy recovery, don't give up despite pain...

Hi there,

sounds like me many years ago but mine was after a MRI and the surgeon putting me forward for physiotherapy when the physiotherapist looked at my notes he said he was not going to touch me without speaking to the surgeon first as the mri showed that where my back was broke in three places it had not healed even though it was over ten years since the accident which caused it but after seeing the physiotherapist that was the end of it they never got in touch so I gave up, I think it is a way of cutting down the number of patients they had to deal with all I can advise is see your doctor again and tell him what you have been told and he should arrange for the X rays.

good luck getting the correct treatment.

Regards Poppy Ann

Try finding an Alexander technique teacher near you, great help.

I know it can be frustrating that the physio is starting with exercises that you feel aren't enough to do anything, but the correct movements are taught that they then build onto. They'll give you more energetic exercises as they are happy your pain isn't increased with the starting ones. Stick with it a little while to give it a good go first

Good luck whatever your decision on getting the pain under control

Hi Manju...

Do take your physiotherapists very wise and good advice. Go back to your doctor and explain to him/her what the physio has told you. No competent physiotherapist would dream of giving manipulation or exercises to your back without seeing a medical report from an xray of your back. So the advice you have been given is very good advice indeed, which your doctor will recognise, and act upon - if he/she is a competent doctor!

The exercises the physiotherapist will give you really do relieve the pain of a herniated disc, providing you do them EVERY DAY.

Good luck.

Hello again Manju.

Are you in UK?

You may need an MRI scan as well as or instead of an xray.

Any Doctor can aranged xray straightaway. Doctor could refer you to a Consultant at the hospital who would arrange an MRI scan, that might take some weeks.

Alternatively you could attend Emergency Care Centre, Emergency Room, Accident & Emergency Department at your hospital if you are still in such severe pain which has immobilised you. This would be best as you may get an Emergency MRI scan and pain treatment.
