Take some ibuprofen for the swelling and some topical ibuprofen cream could help also. If it persists though, seek medical advice.

Both things you suggest are treating the pain not the possible cause, sure it is good to reduce pain but sometimes pain is there to warn us that what we are doing is causing harm. Try and look at the cause as well as the pain itself

See a Chiropractor. This will confirm or remove some causes. It will give a diagnosis to discuss with the doctor. I am concerned that you may have something potentially serious. Trying to mask the pain with pain killers could lead to you seriously damaging yourself.

Check your sleep regime. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. Sleep deprivation will prevent fine control of muscles and lessen the sensitivity needed for the occasions when physical activity could cause you damage.

Hope this helps.

Hi is the joint pain on one side or both? If it radiates it sounds like a nerve is irritated and can be coming from your back or other issues like osteoarthritis. First you need to figure out why, to come up with a treatment plan for this condition. Good luck.

Be careful with ibuprofen if you have stomach issues or kidney problems. Always take with food. Never take oral ibuprofen along with a lotion containing same ingredients. Also my favorite is icy hot patches or spray along with mineral ice. Warm baths help too. Try magnesium pills 250 mg once a day which helps with muscle pain but make sure to get blood work before starting anything to ensure all organs are functioning and you don't have any vitamin deficiencies.good luck
