Good afternoon, my name is Ella and I’m a student studying Geography at Cambridge University. Having lived with severe chronic pain myself, I chose to investigate the effects of the UK’s 2012 Welfare Reform on the experiences of those in chronic pain. I hope that it will give people in chronic pain a stronger voice, revealing the impacts of the Welfare Reform on the day-to-day activities of benefit recipients in chronic pain.

Are you living with chronic pain and on benefits?

As part of my third year dissertation, I’m interested in anybody who is willing to share their experiences of living with chronic pain and the impacts of changes to the benefit system.

When and what would the research involve?

The study will involve one interview lasting approximately 30 minutes in your local area, and a few minutes writing each day for a week considering three questions. Interviews will be conducted between August and September 2016 according to your own availability and location. Participants will be entered into a lottery to win a £25 Amazon voucher, and coffee and cake will also be provided at the interview.

If you are available to take part, or would like more information, please get in touch via email to eos22@cam.ac.uk

Thank you very much for your time!

Thanks :)

Just a quick note to say that Pain Concern has given permission for Ella to post this. We hope that community members will be able to assist her in this research which fits with our own charitable goals to raise awareness of the needs of people living with pain.

Hello Ella,

I am interested, I'm not sure if it would be a problem due to the fact I live in Wales. However I'm very flexible to when and where due to being unable to work at present.

Hi Colleen,

Thank you for your interest. Being in Wales isn't an issue at all, I can travel to you or if necessary we can conduct the interview over skype. If you drop me a line via email (eos22@cam.ac.uk) I can send you further information.

Best wishes,

Ella
